The general buzz surrounding Nintendo\'s pre-SpaceWorld conference is one of both shock and even dissapointment. This further proves points that hype leads to dismay. However, if the conference were not subjected to so many high expectations, I believe open-minded gamers would have been pleased with what has been shown thus far.
Legend of Zelda is surrounded with the most controversy (as far as video games go). Because of last year\'s amazing, realistic footage of both Link and Ganondorf, Miyamoto\'s move to cel-shaded graphics came as much of a shock. Isn\'t this what we\'ve all been asking for? Numerous gamers have been complaining that the new Zelda\'s are too different from the original. This is obviously going back to the roots of the game. Although I admit I was confused at first, I have come to love the new look, and that retro tingly feeling is coming back. Kudos to Miyamoto for bringing Zelda back to its roots! If there\'s one thing I do not like, it\'s Link\'s character design.
Mario Sunshine looks great to me. The name sounds more childish, but the game looks more mature than the original. Than again we don\'t care about these things do we? *Cough* No specifics have been named, but it has a touch of originality to it (the sunshine machine or whatever) added to the classic Super Mario 64 formula. What\'s with the modern cities though? Hopefully we\'ll see some classic Mario characters.
The reason everyone is so bummed out about the whole show is mainly Zelda, and the lack of Resident Evil Zero and Perfect Dark Zero at the show. They\'re both coming so I don\'t care whether we see them this month or early next year. They\'re still coming out so who cares? Everyone has failed to see all the other announced games that have made me giddy with excitement.
From Software showed an updated Rune video that looked amazing, and they even announced a second RPG called Goldstar Mountain. That\'s another RPG announced for the system which should come as welcome news. Metroid looked in "prime" (pun? i think not) shape even though only a few seconds of footage was revealed. Remember, there are 3 days remaining, so not every game can be looked at in-depth at a pre-show conference. That\'s why the next 3 days are included.
Then, Sega announced TWO MORE games coming to Gamecube from Wow Entertainment who developed Alien Front Online and House of the Dead.
Bomberman is another cel-shaded masterpiece on its way. Both Kirby and Animal Forest include GBA link-ups. Soul Calibur 2, Sonic Adventure 2, Virtua Fighter 3, 1080 Snowboarding...... The list goes on.
The thing is, that with all these titles at the show there are so many unnamed titles that have yet to be announced by big names such as Capcom and Ubi Soft. This is why many are dissapointed with SpaceWorld so far. Namco, etc. will announce new titles when they feel like it. Remember, SpaceWorld is a NINTENDO show.
So let\'s wait until all three days have been completed, and just enjoy everyone you see without expectation. That\'s what I\'m doing, and I\'m loving every minute of it.
