I agree with the original post - very sad news. After seeing the first screens of RE1, I felt kind of sick because it looks so impressive. Well, until I noticed that the backgrounds are actually prerendered which then again doesn\'t make it THAT impressing anymore. Just to clearify that the graphics do look great, but are by no means very impressive considered backgrounds are prerendered.
None the less, as a Resident Evil fan, very disappointing - especially since I will not purchess GameCube. I do agree that it could have been worse though: I bought Re:CV the other day with the Devil May Cry demo and having played both - I definately had more fun with DMC. Re:CV is just getting kind of old IMO. Part 1 is still unmatched in the category of atmosphere - and yes, it would have been nice to see the same effort of the rehash put in Re:CV for PS2 for instants. But this will be by no means the end of PS2. We still have lots to look forward too.
Nintendo is still (arguably) targeting the younger audiance. Nintendo says so and following the news I have not seen anything different. Resident Evil will boost the charts a bit for the GC, but don\'t forget: when Golden Eye launch at the time for N64, every one said there would be more to come. Looking back, they only got PD and a few others. It is yet to see if Nintendo will change something big this generation. Resident Evil might be an indication, but I still think PS2 will be the way to go for the mature games. Time will show.
Peace out....
