American consoles cannot be successufl

this post was the most not thought out, not backed up diatribe i have seen...

yea microsoft is gonna walk away from the console bussines cuz\' the japanese didn\'t give them a high-five when the x-box came out. uh-huh. right.

You miss the entire premise of this inane argument.

This has to be the most simpleminded statement I\'ve ever heard.  It\'s so simple, and seems so logical that I almost believed it (probably because I kind of wanted to believe it).

They know they own this business, and if an american console is 1, they fail, they lose billions of dollars and mind-share.

The Japanese themselves own nothing.  That is the first problem.  The people who own the industry are Sony and Nintendo--not Japan the nation.

Game developers could care less if a console is American or Japanese.  Game developers run a business and businesses want to make money.  A company like Sega or Namco do not care so long as they make money.  It\'s like saying the Country of America is upset or desires to have the console industry wrapped up.  I don\'t remember Bush saying anything of the sort in his state of the union address.

Japan the state stands to lose very little if the xbox succeeds.  Japan the state has far bigger worries than the business practises of Nintendo and Sony.  Japan the State would not lose billions of dollars--Sony and Nintendo would.

all i know is for one the Xbox WILL be successful in America - it already has quite a following here and isnt fading away - now as for europe and japan  i am nopt too sure

here in US they have a lot of games that are interesting to us - there arent too many games that seem to interest japanese yet so it looks like it may struggle there

all i know is i cant wait for it to be released here

Japan needs money just like America.  They will create games for American consoles as well.  Microsoft is NOT Atari, nor is it 3DO.

There are reasons why Atari is no longer with us and 3DO is a software company that makes crappy games, and it has nothing to do with Japan.

When you say "American consoles cannot be successful" you are almost saying that "Eggs with ketchup and ice cream taste like donkey sweat."
