There are some plusses and minusses to giving your kid a car.
Really the only main plus is that you can TAKE IT AWAY!!!!
There are so many minusses.
Kid has no respect for the money it cost.
No idea about insurance.
Could care less about upkeep.
Just a total disrespect for what it really means to have a car.
To buy your own, your parents can\'t take it from you, you know what it costs. Obviously the parents are going to have to help you, but there is no reason for a kid to have an expensive car.
I have many rich friends and all of them turned out to be worthless and are still sponging off parents.
I left home at 17 for college and haven\'t been back since. I make a very good living, but I learned early in life that you have to work for what you get.
My first car was a 72 SAAB that I got out of a junk yard. It was awesome. It had no headliner so we use to put beer posters on the ceiling. Now that\'s a car. My wife won\'t let me do that to the car we have now. Can\'t figure that out.
