What a certain village idiot does not realize is that ship does in-fact = sold.

Sony sells every single piece of hardware to retailers such as BestBuy for example...it\'s their job to sell the hardware.

Now, if said hardware sells, they will order more from Sony...

well, personally i agree with Altered...and as i  pointed out in another thread on the same topic, i think it would be in the order of 15 - 17 million sold

its hard to keep track of every single one SOLD...otherwise thery would have exact number, not estimates

Its to celebrate that PS2 is still selling very well..
If it wouldn’t the developers would desert it.. That wouldn’t be very good..

More units=more good games.. and more games overall. (Both chitty and good.. But hey.. No one is forcing you to buy em ;) )

Im sure if these news were about the Xbox or DC.. You\'d be celebrating as much as we are..

We don\'t need to post a thread of this type to inform developers that PS2 has shipped 17.9 million consoles. In fact, the whole idea of reporting a system sell-through number is designed in 2 ways.

1) To encourage people that believe \'x\' system will fail to purchase \'x\' system.
2) to make people think it is hopeless for all other consoles to beat it
3) to pat yuorself on the back for owning one.
