PS2 Will Never Compete Graphically With Xbox...End of Story (56K Warning)!!!!

Ddaryl, most likely, was talking about GC\'s graphics, and GRAPHICALLY, GC blows everything else I have seen with RS:II and RE1.

You\'ll be careful when substituting the word "blows" for "blows away," won\'t you?

I\'m not as gung-ho on RS:II as everyone else.  After so many good impressions, I\'ve decided to try to buy it, though.  I much prefer the Starfox style of space combat.  Seems much faster and focused.  I also notice that enemies are weak offensively and strong defensively in the game.  Basically that means, like the first one, circling back a few times in order to kill what is practically a non-threat.  Hopefully there is a balance there and I\'ve just missed it so far.

Of course that\'s all in the gameplay, not the graphics.  It\'s still a pretty game.  I just hope it\'s a pretty good game, since it\'s beating out games like SSX: Tricky for my last dollar on launch day.

actually no. I mean with overall game selections. GC can do great graphics, unfortunately unless you want to play Nintendo games (and I do not as do quite a few others) why waste money on a GC when there is so muchmore offered on the PS2 and Xbox.

Xbox can do better graphically then the GC and it caters to an older audience, and there are alot of older gamers these days who will be very willing to pick up a PS2 or an Xbox over GC, it has more appeal. Especially with Sega in bed with Xbox more then GC and the PS2. Almost everyday some Nintendo fan switches sides at the IGN forums.

and it is my opinion, but the PS2 has tons of awesome games, and Xbox is showing off lots of cool titles as well with a heluva alot more 3rd party support.

I guess.  I actually look forward to many of the Nintendo exclusives (as do quite a few others) so I\'ll spend my money on a GC.

Look at FFX, Drakan II and BG: DA those games are pretty sweet graphically and Outcast looks nice as well.

Figure on SOny\'s performance analyzer and a few other tools to make their debut in early 2002 and we will see another significant increase in the PS2 capabilities during gen 3 and 4

Also looking deeper into the PS2 tells me that its 3 processor main CPU has the ability to a few more things simulataneously then Xbox

Although Xbox\'s harddrive does offer it some intriguing extra\'s as well.

Xbox should get the majority of its power tapped easier and sooner then the PS2 obviously, so seeing these awesome XBox screens doesn\'t surprise me, but actually makes me wonder what took so long for this type of media to be shown to us.

I can\'t wait to get an Xbox.

Your right i mean i am amased with the X box Graphics and they are superb.

BUT like you said the PS2 isn\'t anywhere near at full potential !
This will take time and i have to say with every generation of new game i have the fealing that i will stick with Sony

another point is that this "console War" will be long and it will demand a lot form the companies involved.

And for anyone to say now that one company will dominate is clearly has there head in the sand (or some where more drak and smelly)

Sony handle well under pressure they have proved this in fighing of the SEGA SATURN , NINTENDO 64  and the DREAMCAST !

Microsoft have dominated their markets for years now and this is their first attempt in that console world.

But you are right about that ps2 cannot compete with xbox graphically, just like xbox wont compete with ps2 in terms of user base. Its not all about the graphics like you xbox fans say. There is something called fun and gameplay, which I personally find lacking in most of Ms\' games.

  Well its almost one year later and the PS2 is just now getting some good games like DMC, MGS2, GT3, and ICO.  It took 12 months dude.  About the PS2 selling 20 million units, thats a masturbation fantasy and an ourright lie on sonys part.  That doesn\'t count how many have been taken back because the PS2\'s don\'t work.

  Sorry to say, Sony\'s system isn\'t great at all.  Those games I listed above are the top of the line games for the PS2 and its 12 months later.  At least Xbox has games out at launch that kill sony, and I think this is more than an opinion ask anyone off the street that doesn\'t care either way and they will tell you.

  Nintendo is an outright disaster and thats unfortunate, they will do better next year, but RS2 is the only game worth picking up this entire year.  

  Xbox has DOA3, Halo, Project Gotham (GT3), Amped, and NFL Fever, which blows away PS2\'s launch with a puny Madden 2001 (which 2002 is on xbox at launch) and SSX, lets not even go there.

  Give xbox the same amount of time that PS2 currently has and its a different story.  I promise that when xboxes are out and available everywhere, the 12 million PS2\'s that are REALLY out there will be slowing down bigtime.

Xbox has the best launch, best hardware, best easy to use API of any Next Generation console hands down.

I don\'t want to hype the xbox up for beyond what it doesn\'t deserve but you do have to call a spade a spade here folks.

BTW, Outcast 2 is being done on the PC, so It can be done on the xbox as well, but I don\'t think all of what is shown of outcast2 to be realtime.  For instance, do you see the sweat on his face in that model?  Well the PS2 could do that with all the rest of the high polygon and textures but you would be running at 5 frames per second on the PS2.  PS2 was not cut out for doing those kind of things in realtime.  Outcast 2 will look good, I have played the first version, but it won\'t look as good as people are thinking from some of the standalone models.  Xbox could handle it all in realtime though and maintain 60 frames per second.

IMO, the PS2 graphics will only evolve more and more. If you noticed the PSX, when it first came out, the games were like the Genesis graphics. But they evolved into the terrific looking games that are out now. The PS2 graphics will match and might even beat the X-Box and GC in the years to come. Don\'t underestimate the PS2 at this point until the other systems are out to compare it to.

The PS2 has been pumpin out quality titles since Spring, and a few at launch (  Timesplitters, SSX, Madden, AC2, Tekken, DOA2 HC) were well worth the price of the PS2 for the majority

Onimusha, Ring of Red, Red Faction, ICO, GT3, TM:B, Star Fighter, SH2, DMC, NBA Street, Shadow of Destiny, Dark Cloud, and a dozen or 2 other games that we\'re enoyed by alot of others. Hence the 20 million PS2\'s shipped (believe it its true which is also the reason all the stores are mass loading up on PS2 stuff for the holiday season, they  know what they\'ve sold in the last year)

on the Horizon:  THPS3, GTA3, SSX Tricky, BG:DA, MGS2, Jak and Daxter, AC4, TS2, FFX, Maximo, Exo, Wipeout Fusion should I go on

and nothing on the Xbox blows away games on the PS2. Halo reviewed by Next gen got a 3/5 while THPS3 DMC and GTA3 all got 5/5 sure they\'ll end up on Xbox but who wants to wait to play PS2 ports on Xbox

Yes, yes, yes..... Of course Xbox\'s graphics look better...... Simply because they\'ve had almost 2 years to surpass ps2..... Which you notice today that computer speed almost doubles in only 6 months..... Xbox\'s had more time.... Making better graphics.

But that doesn\'t mean the PS2 can\'t compete..... I\'m quite frankly here for the games...... AND MGS2!:D
