Newsweek says, keep your PS2 don´t go for the x-box!!

Newsweek has posted an article that is part review of the Xbox and part analysis of the console war. While I generally scoff at video gaming articles published in the mainstream press, this article in Newsweek makes some valid points.
And Microsoft has approached the Xbox hardware with a software mentality—emphasizing a laundry list of marketable features over judicious, timely design. The result: a game console that’s expensive to manufacture, a bulky, awkward controller that few seem to like and an underwhelming lineup of launch games.
Microsoft cannot be happy with a remark such as this appearing in a large publication.
And even though Microsoft claims that Xbox is three times more powerful than PS2, major game publishers say all three systems are in roughly the same class. “Although there are differences in graphical quality from platform to platform, there is no game that we have in development for Xbox that we can’t also make on PS2 or Gamecube,” says Activision CEO Robert Kotick.
Interesting.
Microsoft’s football game NFL Fever looks sharp and plays dull. And here’s proof that on Xbox, as with every system before, the reality never lives up to the rhetoric: all the games exhibit jagged lines and slowdown—despite the Xboys’ statements that such problems would be relics of the past. What Microsoft failed to take into account was that while it may be easier to make a game for Xbox, it isn’t easier to make a great game for Xbox than for PS2 or Gamecube. Great games take time—something that the problem-plagued development of Xbox clearly hasn’t given many game designers.
MS has certainly played the game like a rookie so far. The lack of quality exclusive titles is going to really hurt the Xbox in its first year.
If you already have a PS2, stay the course, because this Christmas’s lineup of Grand Theft Auto 3, Jak and Daxter, Metal Gear Solid 2 and Devil May Cry is unparalleled on any system

basically, newsweek just repeated what ive been saying all along

I like the part about great games take time.

I got an idea how bout i keep my ps2 and by an xbox, a wonderful idea if i do say so myself

I find it kind of funny that both Sony\'s and Microsoft\'s first party football games suck.  Sega is the leader here.  Oh, and hopefully not too many newspapers (or whatever Newsweek is) say bad stuff about the Xbox.  That could be disaterous (sp?)

From what I\'ve heard, not for long...  Anyways, I was only talking about first party football games, so Sega is the leader.

Are you sure you\'re talking about the right game?  I doubt you\'ve even played NFL Fever (it\'s the one coming to the Xbox. )

Anyways, sorry for leading this thread onto such a huge tangent.  Please read the first post and make your comments on that.  Lets drop the whole football debate.

And News week opinions matter because.....................? And seeing how ps2 doesn\'t have a game on it\'s roster rite now that looks close to project ego. I can see where the xbox graphics over shadow the competition.

Ps2 is a good buy this year. But dc was a good buy last year and that didn\'t stop sony drones so why should xbox drones not buy there system?

And fever has way better lighting and textures than madden. Fever was a good pc football game. It was way more realistic than madden. I won\'t say which is better until I get the full experience. But no football game is as crappys as sony\'s NFL GAMEDAY.

fanboys always use double standards when it comes to there console. I bout a ps2 when it\'s line up of launch games sucked donkeys **** compared to wut sega had, but I had a dc aswell. I am buying a xbox now I got all 3.

we all know how much Newsweek knows about games...:rolleyes:

NFL2K2 on PS2 looks better than any football game I have seen, on any console.
