here is to being fashionable late!
Seriously, though, whenever Mormons show up, the topics always die out. I guess my explanation for that would be that our religion does not continually contradict itself, history, or science.
IronFist said it in his first post, but let me clear it up for you guys.
Christ (as we believe He created the world under God\'s direction) organized the Earth. That is all it says on the matter. He didn\'t have to create everything from scratch, nor create everything at all.
About the whole 7 day = Saturday or whatever. Does it really matter? Whatever day your church deems the Sabbath is the day you should worship Him on.
Also, religion is not made to be convenient. People who say they are \'x\' Christian religion through and through but only attend church for Christmas and Easter (and maybe a funeral or two), do not have their minds, nor their hearts in the right places. You do NOT worship God when it is convenient for you. We weren\'t sent to the Earth to have fun, although you are free to do that, we were sent as a test almost to see if we were faithful and sacrificed enough to get back to live with our Heavenly Father.
mm and others may say that when you give tithing (10% of all money you earn in my church) you are paying the church to become more rich, etc. Well, in my church we don\'t pay our Bishops (pastors or Ministers in other churches), pianists, missionaries (actually we provide for our own mission), etc.
I didn\'t want to have to do this, but might as well break out my new scriptures:
Isaiah 45:13 - "I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for the price nor reward, saith the Lord of hosts."
This is from the KJV of the Bible (others may not even have that verse in their because...THEY PAY THEIR MINISTRY) Basically the verse says that those who are called by God shall serve the people, but not for money.
Another one that really puzzles me is 1 Corinthians 15: 16, 17 and 29
16 - "For if the dead rise not, then is Christ not raised:"
17 - "And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins."
29 - "Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?"
these three verses explain that we do baptisms for the dead because the dead can\'t rise for themselves and do it. All people need to be baptized into the true church to return to live in the presence of God in the Celestial Kingdom. For those of you that ae Christians, grab a KJV of the Bible and ask your Minister or Priest what he thinks about those verses, you may get quite an odd answer.
The easiest thing you can do to become Christian and more specifically, to have a true faith in God and the teachings of Christ is to read the Bible with an open mind, read the Book of Mormon with an open mind, then pray on these things. You guys spend enough hours on the internet, just sacrifice an hour a day for a month and you will be able to finish them. Faith comes through sacrifice.
I believe my church to be the only church on the Earth that has a complete fullness of truth. It is the restoration of Christ\'s original church on this Earth. It is led by a Prophet who recieves direct revelation of God just as the prophets of old did. All I do is ask all the religion bashers out there to truly not knock anything until you have learned about them. Some of you guys really like to stretch things to make your points seem more valid. mm saying that some religions think that there were no dinosaurs is a generalization. It makes anyone that is a faithful Christian sound dumb, even though I personally have never heard anyone saying that dinosaurs didn\'t exist, that personally to me soudns retarded.
Learn about religions from those respected religions. Don\'t go to a Nazi website to learn about Jews, an anti-mormon website to learn about mormons, etc.
ALL I CHALLENGE YOU BOYS AND GIRLS TO DO IS READ THE SCRIPTURES. I tell you what, read the Book of Mormon (it is shorter than the Bible) with an open mind, that is all I ask. You have read longer books in school than that.
thank you for reading,
Eric Jacob
