mm,
The shimmering effect is only something you see once the game is in motion, not in still screen shots. It\'s due to the lack of mip-mapping in most PS2 games, the textures shimmer in the distance.
sublime,
That\'s fine, you don\'t see me saying you have to see the game on the TV in order to appreciate it.
The fact of the matter is, PS2\'s image quality is not as good as the Xbox, jaggies or not, the PS2\'s output is still gonna look slightly worse than the Xbox. And I\'m saying slightly to be nice. I have *sigh* 20 PS2 games, and most of them suffer from The PS2 Syndrome (tm).
Most of the Xbox games that are not up to par (in graphics,) come from lame American developers who weren\'t that great to begin with. Just because the Xbox has the potential doesn\'t automatically mean all games are going to look great. Let the Japanese try their hand at the beast, and they will show what it can do. Take SEGA\'s JSRF (a beauty to behold,) or of course the gameplay lacking DOA3. Two games from developers that know their graphics.
Hey, I love my PS2 as much as the next guy, but it has glaring faults that cocky Sony overlooked.
