I\'m not exactly enjoying wasting my time arguing on here for nothing. And it\'s not my xbox, because it\'s also my ps2, my gamecube, and my dreamcast. If you were just going to keep enjoying the games and quit ****** about the details you wouldn\'t waste your precious time to diss the xbox every chance you get.

Argue like a punk? Because I happen to make valid points? Makes sense. No offense mm, I know you have an xbox and all, but you seem to enjoy poking fun @ the xbox every chance you get. Kinda stupid to own one if you dislike it so much. :)

But I guess we should drop it.

Halo does not slow down that much--read any review, they are few and far between.  And to a crawl--absoltely never.  You always exagerate when it comes to xbox mm--this you and I both agree on.

And I\'ve pointed out the fact that PS2 people around here always point out flaws in the xbox that the PS2 has in greater quantity and severity. So I am now confused.  Both companies made glorious promises, neither delivered.  Is there a method here?

It doesn\'t matter if it\'s a FPS or a driving game, if you want to discuss framerate issues we bring all kinds of games into play.

this isnt a testament to consoles power.. we are talking about the fact that Halo should run at 60fps.  Along with the advent on this new technology came the revolution (started mostly with Free Radical announcing they wanted a deathmatch FPS running at 60fps) that FPS\'s should run at 60fps as they are possibly the most intense on your eyes, the smoother the better.  Red Faction should also run at 60fps as well, although its less of a factor in that game, as its a slower based, narrative, without any emphasis on deathmatch.

Bringing in Final Fantasy is irrelevant to the current arguement, but its obvious that the arguement you were bringing was in another direction, that of the consoles themselves not the games.  We all know what the consoles are capable of, but Halo running at 30fps and looking beautiful is completely different to Final Fantasy X running at 30fps and looking beautiful.  Final Fantasy doesnt have to run at 60fps, its not the intense shooting game that Halo is.. hell, Final Fantasy 7 ran at 15fps, there were no complaints about slow framerate, it wasnt necessary as it wouldnt have made the game any more enjoyable at 30fps or 60fps.  If you had have stripped down FFX\'s graphics and raised the framerate to 60fps the game probably would have been no more enjoyable, you wouldnt notice it really.  Where as, as i previously stated, stripping down Halo\'s graphics slightly and raising the frame-rate would have improved it visually for my likings anyway, and made multiplayer much more accessable and enjoyable.  The aim was obviously not to make it run at 60fps for the players but to make the game look as good as possible to help it sell systems based on screen shots  :)

or something  :D

Bob,

Well I did take the nitpicks on Halo in another way. I\'m not going to argue whether a game should be 30fps or 60fps because I will always prefer for them to be running @ 60fps. Yes, even FFX. It doesn\'t matter to me whether it\'s a FPS, a racing game, or a damn puzzle game, 60fps is much more pleasing to the eye.

I took the argument in terms of the console\'s power, which despite my disappointment with Halo\'s framerate, the game made up for it everywhere else. As far as the horrible framerates in splitscreen/deathmatch, I couldn\'t care less, because I was more interested in the single-player experience. And while the game does drop on ocassion, it runs pretty well considering the action, enviroments, and effects that it is pushing. Maybe the game was a little too ambitious for Bungie for a first attempt, but they still pulled it off. Spend some time with Halo, actually experiencing it, and I think your mind might change a bit. When Half-life first came out it chugged on my P-200, and it didn\'t detract from the hell of an experience that it was.

All I\'m saying is that some of you should relax with the anti-M$/xbox bashings for no reason. Especially if you haven\'t spent considerable time with it. MM\'s an exception though, Clyde drives him bananas (pun intended.)

And bob,  the 15fps battles in FF7, 8, and 9 drove me nuts. Those battles were choppy as hell. Well enough is enough, I\'m not going to go on a crusade to prove to people that having multiple consoles is where it\'s at. I\'ll be enjoying my Gun Valkyrie, VF4, and Soccer Slam next week. :)

7, 8, and 9 all run @ 30fps, but in the battles the framerate goes to 15. It\'s very annoying actually.

I have played Halo quite a bit now and still havent had any problems with slow down. I dont know where these arguments are coming from? Maybe you just have a bad copy. That happened to me with NCAA Football 2002 on PS2 - got a bad copy that had all kinds of slow down - exchanged it for another copy and it ran fine.

For those who are saying it should be 60 FPS - sure it would be nice - but have you even played the game? It runs fine at 30 FPS.

Right, like all the excuses made for the PS2 when it was supposed to be the ultimate Dreamcast killer, and 2 years later the PS2 still cannot match the Dreamcast in image quality and textures. Is that Sony\'s fault for hyping their console? Or the mindless and ignorant masses who fall for it?

datamage was referring to image quality and textures...
...overall MGS2 is technically superior to DC games...

PS2 has surpassed DC when it comes to textures and all that. (IMO)
