Is the XBox going to flop?

Is it heading the same way as the Sega Saturn and Sega Dreamcast?

Some might say yes afterall when the Dreamcast was launched the PS1 and even the n64 was outselling it. Look where it ended up.

Microsoft has said that they aren\'t going to try and catch up with Sony\'s sales. Prehaps if they ignored Sony\'s sales and providing the sales of the X-Box is enough to make the company profit prehaps they won\'t kill off the console and just continue with the console reguardless of how many units of the PS2 are being sold a week.

Also prehaps a price reduction will cause X-Box sales to rocket.

Then again prehaps theres nothing they can do and the console is going to be dead within a year?

although a price drop is the worse thing they could do
sega gave the DC away for free, and look where that got them

although, i dont think the console world would be at a loss if m$ kept its evil ways to the PC industry.

there was never  a need for the xbox, well of course there was a need for bill to make even more money, but thats not happening any time soon

I think M$ overestimated their chances, then again, I think Big N knew they would have trouble.

You can\'t live on a console with one great game, M$ has to expand their horizons cause their sales sux0r!

I think its too late, without any system sellers in the next several months.. Smaller 3rd parties from japan and europe will begin to leave the system.

USA developers and MS themselves may continue to support it, for how long I don\'t know..
It really does look like the DC all over again, it just may stick around with a tiny hardcore PC/American userbase of FPS and boobloving users.

MSN, failed in a sense
it was losing too much money from the rebates for service that they had to cancel the plan

Ultimate TV failed, they also quit supporting it also

WinME in a way failed, it was much lower in sales then previous MS software.

Its not logical for a company to continue to support a lost cause and lose billions of dollars, even if your MS.
Stock holders do not apreaciate that.

If anyone should fail it should be Sony as a company. Prehaps they aren\'t as disliked as Bill Gates but least he managed to make consoles availible to punters which work - no scratching cds, weird noises and games not loading problems.

Yeah, my friend\'s XBOX hasn\'t given him any toruble. . . it collects dust just fine.

No, serously, he got it for Christmas, got a few games, and stopped playing it sometime after January.  It\'s been collecting dust ever since.

Anyways, my PS2 hasn\'t given me any trouble, and I play it at least 2-3 hours a day.

More gaming? Hardly. Maybe for those who purchased an Xbox, but I won\'t be counting myself to those so I don\'t give a damn if it succeeds or not. Actually, if you asked me - I\'d be more happy having it just they whey it was a year ago: PS2, Dreamcast and a third competitor GameCube. The only positive thing I see about Xbox is that a lot of PC developers have the chance to develop games for console easily. But PS2 has it\'s fair share already so forget about it.

And about Gates monney. I don\'t think any company can affoard to throw monney like that out of the window. Not Microsoft or Sony. If it won\'t be worth it, they won\'t invest in it. But since this and especially next generation of consoles will be very important to Microsofts future - I think Microsoft will try to keep Xbox alive. I just wonder how they\'ll do it and hope it won\'t have big influence on the happy gamers without a Xbox.

My cousins\' X-Box has some extremely bad problems. First of all, it makes me sick to my stomach when I play. Second, it would seem that whenever a quality game is made for it, it blows up into dust , meaning there are no good games out there. Wait, whaddya mean that\'s not a system problem...?

A company that is partering with Toshiba and IBM to develop new chips for the ps3, instead of taking a Pentium and calling it faster.
So we can be stuck with a PC in a Box with a Innovative HDD, BB adaptor and Pentium chip..
