They sure were expensive.  It was either these or a GeForce 4 Ti 4600...Well My GeForce 2 GTS is gonna have to struggle through Unreal Tournament 2003:(  but he it\'s not all bad 5.1 mp3\'s rule.

2.0ghz p4
256 rdram
30gig western dig hd
20gig maxtor hd
sound blaster live
boston acustic 2.1 speaker sys
16x/10x/40x cd-r drive
40x cd rom
win xp
geforce 3
19" monitor
logitech wireless optical mouse(highly recommended)
i have a dedicated fat16 partiton just for max payne which only made a slight improvement in gamespeed and load speed but i recomend it if you have a large game (at least 1gig) and have the extra space to partition off

why on earth would you make it fat16?

NTFS would make it run faster, but not enough to notice
making a partition just for a game is a waste

fat16 decreases seek time on the hard drive
for home computing ntfs isnt worth the computer its self even says ntfs may slow down performance all that security and recovery stuff that comes with ntfs is just bells and whistles as far as home gaming is concerned
buisness and networking thats a different story

p.s. making a partition for a game isnt a waste having gigabytes of unused space on you computer thats a waste

sound work aswell, well the OS is very much better for sound works.

Along with a much more efficient design.

Macs only suck when people either don\'t know what they are doing, or don\'t have a clue what they are talking about. Yes they have their shortcoming, but they also have many advantiges.

a person that could say "Mac sucks" or "Mac is stupid" is either brainwashed or very very very dumb. mac is a perfect machine - it\'s just different. i have 10-years old mac, the last time i\'ve reinstalled it operating system was 6 years ago, my mother works on it every day, without single problem. that\'s something different from "oops-here-comes-another-100mb-servicepac" microsoft way. windows seems do grow old very fast. 3 months after you\'ve installed it, it\'s size is double the initial size, it\'s working a lot slower, and you have to make clean reinstall if you want optimal working machine.

Desktop:
Shuttle AK31 Mobo
AMD Athlon 1.4GHz @ 1527MHz
512MB DDR PC2100
60GB IBM @ 7200RPM
ATI Radeon 8500 64MB DDR (o/ced: 290/285)
SB LIVE! 5.1
5x DVD-ROM
8x4x32x CD-RW
19" Monitor (Gateway VX900)

Laptop:
PIII 900MHz
384MB PC133
30GB @ 4800RPM
ATI Mobility M4 16MB SDRAM
16bit ESS Ellegro
15" UXGA Display
8x DVD-ROM

I wasn\'t able to find a good AMD laptop at the time, so i settled for the PIII, but all my future computers will be equiped with AMD processors, fast and cheap, enough said.

Well the thing that will suck....atleast for you I\'d say is that Intel is apparently phasing out rdram in favour of the more cheap ddr ram. The 850 chipset will supposedly be the last chipset to support rdram.

man i hate intel for changing the 850 chipset, coz of that rd ram prices have soared and i wont be able to upgrade my ram any time soon.
