480 mbps (megabytes per second.)  It\'s roughly 40 times faster than USB 1.1.  Firewire is about 400 mbps.

Hum, no. It\'s 480 Mbs (small b = bit, not byte). So USB 2.0 can transfer 60 MBs at best (60 Mega Bytes/sec).
