When you guys get the harddrive it\'s a totally different story.. You must properly shut it down by going to "shut down" "log out" option.

Lucky. Mine is dead. Doesn\'t play the PS2 format CD-ROMs (blue back disks) anymore. I need to get it fixed but don\'t want to send it to Boston.

That sucks...maybe I am lucky.  But if you turn the machine off with the switch in the back, it apparently is important to take the disk out.  I\'ve heard of games being scratched by the lens and so on.

Give SCEA a call. They will generally replace a buggered unit with no questions asked.

Did it a while ago. I get to get it fixed for the low low price of 119 bucks plus shipping. I\'m shipping it out soon. All the local repair shops say that it\'s "cheap and should throw it out and buy a new one because they are cheap".
