A friend said it would. I don\'t see how it could.

think of it this way

a hub is for connecting computers together

a router is for connecting netorks together

do not waste money on a router if you only need a hub

that unit is NOT a router
that is for connecting alot of PC\'s together on a network, nothing more

Thats what I thought.

The cheapest router I saw was 95 dollars by U.S. Robotics.

Okay then... I need the router for connecting my PS2 to my DSL modem.

Whats the cheapest one I can find, without shopping online? Cuz\' I\'m sure there\'s cheaper than 95 dollars. The Linksys one I saw was 129$ .

Ok I\'m dumb, help me out. I want to link up two PCs and my PS2. All I need is something that will split my cable connection into three ethernet cords, and maybe let me send files between the two PCs. Do I want a Hub or a Router?

I use a switch myself.. Like a hub but smarter. :) Mine cost a fair bit though.. Netgear is expensive.  Have 4 comps connected to it, and use to have my cable modem on it too.. :\'\'\'\'(

I have a simple Netgear 4 port hub and I run a couple computers off of it to share my DSL connection.  Never had a problem with it.

I got a question... if I have a USB Ethernet adapter (a D-Link) that my cable modem plugs into, will it still work with a router?  Or would I need to go buy some Ethernet card to put in my PC?

Router = $55 at bestbuy.  Search their website for linksys and look for a 4 port router.  They have router\\switch combos that go for 80, but you don\'t need a switch if you\'re not connecting multiple PC\'s together.  Just get a Linksys 4-port router.  Cheap, SUPER SIMPLE to install, and works wonders.

That\'s how it works.  Just replace Cable modem with DSL or T1 line, or whatever the heck you have in your house.  Trust me, it\'s just THAT simple.
Don\'t you ever touch my cape.
