Taking the Playstation 2 Online

i got my free game about a month after i sent in for it... still havent played or registered my adaptor though... lol

PS2 online sucks. Too much hassle, unstable, full of wankers, hacked, just generally shit.

I\'m not going to go through all that shit for it. Not worth it.

No one\'s going to notice this, but anyway:

Do I need to have a router to play online on my PS2? Or can I connect some other way?

Depends....


You can either unhook the internet cable going into your computer and then hook it into your ps2

or

You can buy a router that splits the internet connection into two separate connections and have one going into your computer and one going into your ps2...


The downside with the first method is that you can only have your ps2 or your computer connection at any given time...

What about having two NIC cards in your PC and connecting to your PS2 from the second and using Internet Connection Sharing? I think I read about that somewhere.

Now, I just got the network adapter yesterday. I\'m having problems with my router (rather, my mom is having problems with the router. I told her not to buy that one) and having a friend come over today and we\'ll give it a go. I don\'t have a line going down to my PS2 but I want to get a wireless adapter that will plug into the back of the network adapter. Is this doable or do I have to run down a line to the room where my PS2 is? Luckily for me, the computer is right above my PS2 so I can run a line down easy enough if I have to but I doubt my parents will appreciate me drilling holes all over the house. My second question would be, does Verizon (I have Verizon DSL) allow this or do they have charges or do they not care? Thanks for the info. I\'ll check back during my photo class for a response. I want to get Star Wars Battlefront online. I just thought of another question. Do I need a USB keyboard for startup?

you can buy a wireless gaming adapter for about 70 bones from Best buy.. that should set you up just fine.  Other than that, just buy a  long ass CAT5 cable and run that bitch to the PS2...

I doubt it has to be long ass. Maybe 10 feet to run from the router, through the wall straight down into my PS2

the cable doesnt really matter.. any cat 5 cable you can get your hands on will work just fine.  We make our own here at work for the network.  I would go to Radio Shack and pick one up.  it will work fine for you.
