For those of you still wondering if you should or should not buy NFS:HP2....stop thinking, this game is excellent!!!

Bought it yesterday and seeing that I am the Director of my company, I nearly did not go to work today.  The graphics are not as bad as some magazines make it out to be.  Actually I think that the backgrounds in this game gives GT3 something to think about.  The most interesting part of this game (to me so far...and I have barely touched it) is the natural weather effects.  So far I have driven through fire smoke, mist, water, bushes (Yes the bushes you hit flies all over the place) and some really good dust effects.  You actually see the person in the car and yes, unlike GT3, the cars leave skid marks on the tarmac.  The control suits the game to the T.  In my opinion this is the best arcade game to ever grace a console!!:bounce: (GT3 is still the best for simulation)

Just go and buy this game

I heard it had some graphic slowdown in places, is it true?

I hope not because I loved NFS III on the pc.

NFS HP 2 is a very good game. Yes, it doesn\'t have 60fps, but its still pretty smooth. The environments are just so big and detailed, and they are the games best asset.

The only problem I have found is that the colours are quite bland, lacking contrast and saturation.

Yes, it does, but it is few and far between. It might happen when you are trying to pass another car in the smoke from a fire (yes, they\'re fires). There is also a bit at the start, but it doesn\'t affect your start and usually will end in a few seconds.

Otherwise, it\'s a GREAT game. The races themselves are better than in Gran Turismo, where you just slap a stage 4 turbo and you\'ve won. In HFS, you\'re always neck and neck with someone.

I rented this game, and really liked it. The natural weather
effects are pretty sweet, I never encountered a major slowdown,
and the camera tricks (you can zoom ahead to see what\'s
coming up on the road, sorta like bullet-time) are uber-cool.

I\'m not big on the arcade driving games, though, so I probably
won\'t buy this one. But it was fun, and would be better if
you had a second player to compete against (i.e. cop missions).

Burnout 2 was good, but lacked the fan factor that NFS HP2 has. I wish NFS had Burnouts graphics engine.

Right, I have now aquired the upper class cars such as the Ferrari Spider...things are now really heating up.  One thing that I did not mention is the amazing AI of the other drivers.  If at some stage in the race you ram another driver off the road he/she remembers that and does everything it can to get back at you...that includes ramming you...and hooting at you like you are not suppose to be driving in the race or something.

Another thing I found incredible is the way the courses have been structured.  I have reached 325km/h with the Ferrari Spider which is it\'s top speed ( and there was no slow down at all).  What I am trying to say is that when you start reacing these incredible speeds, the game sucks you right in... reminds you of the good old days when you would never miss an episode of Knight Rider...you don\'t want to miss on any of these races.

On the cops side of things.  These cops are serious in this game... you give them to much hassle and they produce the old and tired method of raod blocks...but they have a suprise up their sleeve.  These road blocks explode when you have hit them and is one hell of a bastard to dodge.  Secondly, if that does not seem to work they send in their Helicopter to hit you with some sort of missle bombs...and can be very frustrating:rpissed:

Need to know more, just ask me!;)

sorry to say, but this is THE WORST NFS I\'ve ever played. I\'d get Burnout 2 over this anyday (I did actually, and I love it).

I\'ve just spend a few minutes with this game. The frame rates are pretty dissapointing - average 30fps at best. In this age and day, I don\'t think anybody should be playing a 30fps next gen console racing game. if a 1 year plus (or is it 2 already?) GT3 can stay at 60fps with such excellent graphics and new game like Burnout 2 shows that this can even be improve upon, there\'s no more valid excuses for the developers.

Still, it\'s a pretty good game as the game is pretty fun. if you like the NFS series, you might want this, others, try before u buy.

btw, this is the BEST version of NFS:HP2 among all platform and even the gameplay system is slightly different. according to most reviews, it has the best graphics, control and reward system in all the versions.

I happened to play both the PS2 version and the Xbox one. I won\'t get too deep into the Xbox version, as it does have some issues compared to the PS2 one.

The PS2 one, however, isn\'t much better IMHO. The framerate is inexusable for a racer, especially on a next-gen system. Sure enough, the game boosts some good ideas, but personally, I just don\'t like them. Driving through fire etc... this isn\'t a stunt man game. The way the cops hunt you, it\'s just plain stupid. They drive worse than you, risking their lives (and their $$$$ car) just to ram you from the road. In my world, it doesn\'t work like that. What happened to the simple arcade racer? Why can\'t they make a game as good as the originial NFS once was? The first NFS game is still one of the best racers too date. The handling of the cars were reasonably realistic, it gave you a good adrenalin push when driving fast, the cops (although they only had to overtake you) were much more realistic and the courses best to ever grace a computer. Simple, but good.

Also, the NFS series was always about the cars and the realism dedicated to them. While in NFS one, the 512TR and the Diablo VT were phanomenal to drive, even the second part boosted some very nice and amazing cars. What did happen though is that it\'s just getting too unrealistic. Part 2 was considered the worst part of the series hence this reason. Part 3 and 4 got a bit better (4, being the best effort after part 1 concerning realism) and now with part 6 (I never played part 5) - it doesn\'t even matter anymore which car you take. Sure, some are faster (well, so the speed-o-metre lets you assume), but in the end, all handle very unrealistic and the lack of a good framerate doesn\'t make for it either. The cars? LOL, why go through the effort of licencing them when they don\'t even reflect their true counterpart? Sure, they may look alike, but the handling is so far off, it\'s not even funny.

What happened? Now days, everything has to be bigger, faster, riskier, more unrealistic, well, more stupid and pathetic to gain some publicity. Honestly, this game is bad.

At least Burnout 2 doesn\'t sell it with the cars in mind, but with "crazy driving" skills. It\'s not that unrealistic (expect for the handling of the cars), yet is still fun and enjoyable to play. The sense of speed is amazing - this is how a real arcade racer should be. Hell, even Ridge Racer 5 might be even considered better than this NFS.

/ just my honest opinion on the game.
