Well, its offical...I hate Sony more than ever. The one original and fun game series that they had Mark of Kri,  they have gave the axe to. The series which was originally planned to be a trilogy will now just be one lone game, due to "lagging sales"..

It amazes me.They cancel Mark of Kri\'s sequel yet plan a sequel to The Getaway, a game they can\'t even get out the friggin\' door.

Not to be a Sony basher, but if it is not quick high sales they don\'t seem to bother with it. Mark of Kri was one of the few games I enjoyed this year. I loved the targeting system.

Also I doubt we see the getaway 2 if 1 does poorly. IMHO.

Perhaps another developer will take what was started there, and carry on the good work?

I apologize if I am come across as a Sony Basher. It is not the case. I am at a point that I am becoming overly jaded, and bash all consoles equally. It is too mainstream at this point, and that allows for little true innovation like the Mark of Kri.

Amen. Yet, they will continue to throw money into the money pit known as \'The Getaway\'. Or make a sequel to \'Dark Cloud\'. I just don\'t understand Sony\'s moronic philopshy on what should get a sequel and what shouldn\'t.

Doomed?  From a sales standpoint, it actually gave Sony some black sales that will help with the company later.  As for the Getaway, Sony\'s already said that with the money put into it, the game can NEVER have any black sales whatsoever.  It\'ll constantly be in the red and Sony already said this and yet, they want a sequel?  If it was guaranteed to sell like Vice City, maybe, JUST MAYBE, I\'d see this as a brilliant decision, but, it won\'t and that\'s too bad for Sony.

I don\'t think a sequel for The Getaway is a bad business decision. They already have the engine and such, so making a sequel wouldn\'t be anywhere as expensive and timeconsuming as making The Getaway in the first place (like GTA: Vice City) - ie. a sequel is where Sony\'s gonna make some money on the series. Besides, it\'s a flagship title for Sony hence the reason they\'re willing to make a game that\'ll not turn in a profit in the short run.

And trust me, I\'m pretty sure The Getaway will sell like hotcakes.

Exactly, Ryu. Sony is banking on \'The Getaway\' making GTA:Vice City sells, due to them being similiar, but there is no way it will bring that amount of money or sales in.  
 
Take for example Ico though - it didn\'t sell that much either, yet a sequel is going ahead.

Personally, I just think it is a dissapointing bit of news. Mark of Kri was one of the truly enjoyable games this generation and could of been a great series, if Sony would of just dumped the money into it.  Kinda like a sequel to the 32-bit great Warhawk..Another game forgotten by Sony.

They are also planning on backing The Getaway with their largest Marketing plan ever, I believe.

Looks like they are throwing all their money into the Getaway and have none left over for other games. Such is life.

I think that the getaway sequal will sell more than a mark of kri sequal.I\'d say that they would be silly to not to try to cash in on the GTA band wagon.

Yeah, the reason being is because Sony is idiots and ran by idiots. They can\'t make a system that doesn\'t break down and when ever they have the chance for a decent franchise, they usually pass it up. WarHawk? Now Mark of Kri. Yet they will churn out crap like NFL Gameday, Dark Cloud and the overly expensive money pit known as \'The Getaway\'.


As for their excuse on "lagging sales", it couldn\'t of sold less than Ico - which was a commercial daister, yet  there is a sequel goin\' ahead on that.

Yeah, great logic on Sony\'s part.

/me is upset. More so than usual. Mark of Kri was one of the few games this generation that he has enjoyed and it screamed for a sequel..

If Mark of Kri didn\'t sell then why should they make a 2nd and a third.... just because you like it ?

heck it sucks, and I feel your pain, but I\'m ROTFLMAO at anyone who hates Sony for any reason

they\'re the ones pumping billions of dollars into the industry. there the reason there are so many 3rd party developers out there making games for consoles.

Dumb logic.
There was plenty of 3rd party developers like Capcom, Enix and Konami making plenty of money before Sony.

 The point was that Sony is killing a possible great franchise, yet they will put crap out like NFL Gameday and throw money into something that won\'t even bring in any profits. It\'s simply stupid.

As for TheGetaway being a money pit, I thought we already touched on the different ways it can be benefitical for Sony?
