Check out these movies at IGN. Don\'t worry, they\'re not
IGN insider stuff, so I guess it\'s ok if you dl \'em. One of my
favs is "Shootout- watch the shadow". :bounce:  Anyway,
the game IS gonna be in stores in Europe at Dec 11th ! :D
You guys in the USA will have to wait til January 03.
Btw, there\'s this thing I noticed about the environment textures when driving. Somehow they use a technique which displays
the textures at full resolution when you are close, but they
are displayed at lower res if you view em from a distance.
Pretty smart actually. Well, I\'m getting this game anyhow, together with the Slipknot DVD... but that\'s another thing.....

Seriously, this game looks just as bad as GTA. And I seriously doubt the frame rates can reach 60fps. You\'ll be lucky to keep it constant at 30fps.

Hmmm that comment pretty much lives up to yer avatar. Only Ralph could say something like that.

It looks a lot more realistic than GTA. The textures, the amount of polys are all better than GTA. You have to blind not to notice.

GTA still kicks arse in the gameplay department though :)

Some of the movies of the game I saw showed a serious graphical problem which I think they have solved. Some of the building\'s in the foreground after u get near to them their detail and textures remain blurry as if the game doest realise that they should have regained their true detailed form.

The "Shootout- watch the shadow" movie from IGN shows that clearly http://mediaviewer.ign.com/ignMedia...etaway+Hands-On.

I just watched a ton of videos from IGN and this game looks way better than GTA, I dont necessarily like GTA compared to Mafia and it seems Getaway is a mix between both.  I seriously cant wait for this game.  Watch out guys this is gonna be the top game for PS2

Not as detailed?  Every texture in the game is a photograph of it\'s real-life counterpart.

Of course the town looked boring, it\'s London. ;)

Hhmm...it seems like the first movie I watched at the IGN site(the one stealing the Jaguar) doesn\'t quite do justification to the other movies. The other indoor movies are quite impressive and I think it looks better than GTA. The texture looks good and the animation is varied as well.

Still, the outdoor scenery isn\'t too hot. Maybe I\'ll check out more of those outdoor movies.

Well, looks like I\'ve to revoke my earliar judgement about the outdoor scenery. The London city looks very good especially the movie for the Lexus SC340. However, there seems to be a bit of mip map problem as the detail texture is not loaded on time when swinging at one of the corners.

I wonder how sharp it\'ll look in actual screen on TV! If it can stay sharp, this could be the cheapest air fare to London yet...anyone here from London can give an opinion on how authentic it is?

Also, I was wondering, can you run into most of the building in the game or is it only limited to certain building which is relevant to the game???

Only a limited amount of buildings.

Another innovation that The Getaway was planning, but Vice City still managed to pip it.  So Getaway becomes just a cheap GTA game  (not directed at you :D)

not sure if anyone has read my short impressions from the other thread, but let me assure you, this game is very sharp. Very clean image. The realism might not suit everyone though, I find it very difficult myself, but am sure I\'ll get used to it while I continue playing around with the demo.
