Nintendo\'s MEGAT0N rumor...

Can someone confirm this???

Do you remember the PlayStation-X cd-rom drive Sony was to produce for the SNES? Rumors has it that Nintendo\'s lawers have taken a second look at the contract they had with Sony. To them it looks like it was Sony who broke the deal and not Nintendo. That means, according to them, that Nintendo has the legal right to claim not only the name/brand PlayStation, but also profits Sony has made on it.

I really hope this is NOT true....


Also another rumor is that Nintendo is to BUY SEGA & CAPCOM!!!!
This sound more true in comparison with the rumor above, but again it\'s NOT good for Sony or PS2 fans...

That battle went on and on... do you really think something LIKE THIS would only come out years later? Even if so, I much highly doubt Sony could loose everything because of something like that. In other words, I don\'t know what laws there are in Japan, but overhere, profits belong to the company that makes them.

Apparently nintendo had the idea of making the snes a cd-drive and thought of the name "playstation"... as Sony were very high into the cd business (cd-players, walkmans etc.) Nintendo asked them to build the cd-drive code name "playstation" for the snes.
Meanwhile Philips were also in the works of a cd-based console called the CD-i and they asked Nintendo for some help, Nintendo gave them the right to produce four Zelda games on it which they did.
Sony were angry at this because they thought that they were being cheated so they dumped Nintendo and took the idea of the cd-based console aswell as the name "playstation".

Sony and Nintendo\'s contract was for seven years and guess what? This is their last year as partners according to the contract...

So, as you have read from dracool\'s post, Nintendo lawyers are suing Sony, blah blah blah...

You would think "why did Nintendo wait until the very last month to sue?"
Well, the answer is very simple yet sneaky... some suggest that Nintendo had this planned for a long time and waited until the final month of the contract to suck every single last penny from Sony!

LOL, it just doesn\'t work like that. AFAIK you can\'t just wait for years and then look for mistakes made within a contract in the PAST. This is a joke.

Besides, I don\'t know why I\'m even replying to this.

I would most likely sell my GC if Nintendo did something as low as this, I really would.

The "megaton" is infact a announcement of software titles coming to the GameCube.

All this talk about buyouts and suing Sony is false.

This whole PlayStation thing is really far fetched.  Not going to happen.

There is such a thing as statute of limitations.  Similar to what 7 said.  Although for this situation I don\'t know how long it would be.

Nintendo had rumored a "big announcement" a few weeks ago in Japan...  If that\'s where this started, then it\'s the device that lets you play Gameboy Advance games on a television.  It plugs into the ports under the Cube.

If not, and Nintendo has ground to sue Sony... Go get em, Nintendo! ;]

But seriously, it just seems like that guy\'s imagination along with the rumors leading up to Nintendo\'s new peripheral announcement.
