only the intro AFAIK. Wipeout Fusion should have some wonderful DD 4.0 though...

Burnout 2, though only ProLogic II sounds pretty good too.

Not many have implemented ingame 5.1 surround sound.  FFX, the Japanese version have 5.1 surround sound for CG movies only.  The american version was scrapped off because of the time.  MGS2 does support 5.1 in some cutscenes.  Maybe as time progress, developer will take advantage of 5.1 surround sound games for ps2.  I think only Xbox can take advantage of 5.1 surround without much of a problem than ps2.  But ps2 still rules thanks to many great games coming out and i loved my ps2.

The PS2 can not support DD 5.1 in the game, but a lot of game have Prologic 2. Look that your receiver have Prologic 2

wrong, the PS2 hardware doesn\'t support it, but the software can.  So you have a few games that are in-game DD 5.1 capable, but not all.  SSX Tricky and NHL 2002 have it in-game.

SSX Tricky and NHL 2k2 have DTS, not DD.  Even though audio nuts prefer DTS over DD, the PS2\'s DTS is just short of awful.  For the PS2 to use any type of real-time 5.1 audio it has to sacrifice one of it\'s VPU\'s (Vector Processing Units- either V1 or V2).  Even then the result is nothing spectacular.

Don\'t mean to knock on the PS2, just wish Sony would have thought of this before it was released.

sometimes, i think the xbox have the upper hand in many aspects.  Like dd 5.1 surround sound sound card without a performance hit, 4 controller ports, better graphic, built in hard-drive.  the ps2 upper hand are psx playback, no need to buy a remote control to play dvd, dts for dvd movie that support it.  I like the fact that ps2 is psx playback as i owned many psx games and planning to buy some more.

Don\'t blame the system, blame the developers or the artists responsible for coding the DTS! You of all people should know that there are movies that sound great and movies that sound horrible.

Actually, AFAIK developers can use VU0 if any because VU1 is strictly for geometry and T&L tasks. If not, it\'s also possible to generate real time 5.1 dolby digital sound through SPU2 and the IOP unit. It\'s a bit harder that way, but the results all depend on the artist as I already mentioned.

I think there\'s a few.
DTS on SSX tricky sounds great and I don\'t see any performance hit between normal stereo and DTS.

GTA3:VC also comes with DTS but the DTS sucks horrible as it adds all sorts of weird echo. Better stay in stereo for this game.

Dobly Pro Logic II is pretty good too like BurnOut2. My system only support DPL 1 but it still sounds good.

The Bouncer also is the first PlayStation 2 game to be released with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, so for those of you who are total audio-freaks, and who own high-end stereos, you\'ll really enjoy the game\'s high qualiity sound.

I like the dts Sound in GTA:VC ! I canĀ“t understand ppl who say, that it sounds bad... besides dts is better than Dolby Digital as it has a higher resolution (on DVD Videos I always would use the dts Sound if supported).
