dont bother man, seriously just dont bother.

either get a REAL drum set, or a good drum machine if you wanna go the electronic route.

Go for an acoustic for now. Go electric if you really want to or if you already have an acoustic.

You could get a Tama Rockstar (Pretty nice) for about 800, or a Pearl set for anywhere between 600-900 in a nice quality range. Just look around;

PM; what you picked, I can look it over.
I drum, just incase you didn\'t know.

1. Whats your price range?
2. Music style prefered?
3. Cymbals with/without?

Here is an average set made by Pearl; Its nothing totally top of the line, but it is something to get started out on, and it\'ll keep you going for a while. A great deal too; free cymbals, and boom stand

If your looking for a no-name brand, with an under $500 budget. Your most likely to find something like this; a no-name brand, with a pretty decent, decent, or below average sound. It could work if you are just trying it out.

A bit higher up, but the best your going to get for under $1500. I would go with this if you have the money.

Ludwig also makes good drumsets, look around for them. Avoid plastic sets if possible (Example:

13 years, wow.

What kind of set you got?

I have a vintage Tama Superstar. Its really pretty nice. I still have to custom order some stuff for it, and fix it up. But for how it sounds, Im all for it. The bass is really nice. I love pounding "One" by metallica on that thing.

If you are looking really cheap try this; Its electronic, since thats what you wanted. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/sid=030202212842066058237132004950/search/g=perc/detail/base_id/57508

Heres a cheap acoustic set. About same price; http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/sid=030202212842066058237132004950/search/g=perc/detail/base_id/87091

Both no name brands. But something to get started though.

no no please man dont encourage him to get an electronic set, they are WORTHLESS!

just get a drum machine if you want electronic drums, im tellin ya.

if you wanna learn the drums, then get a real set, theres no other way to learn them, square, if your just starting out on the drums getting an electronic set is the WORST thing you can do.

by the way spuddy, i dont have a drum set right now:( i sold my old pearl set to get the ghetto home studio i told you about before.

someday... i will have another set, shit, i hate not having one now but thats the way it goes.

the price i pay to be a rockstar

Yeah,

Oh BTW; you know anything about Mapex Drums? Theirs this deal; a double bass set going for 799. Is this worth it? I might actually think about it. For a double bass, and for 799 that seems a pretty awesome deal.

it is and Mapex are actually one of my favorites.

BUT

i cant stand double bass anymore, if youve never had 2 actual bass drums lemme tell you its nothing but annoying.

first off, it makes the kit so much bigger and more bulky that if you have a set way that you have everything, its going to mess it up and youll have to used to a new way of playing and setting up your shit.

also, its another drum you have to keep in tune, and if your bass drums arent tuned perfesctly to each other at all times it sounds funny.

im a HUGE fan of the double bass pedal.

not only will you always have the same sound cause your hitting the same drum, but one little thing i did and a few of my drummin\' friends copied me is i put my high hat pedal inside of my double bass pedal, cause i like to have my hats almost in front of me, and with the 2 actual bass drums i HAD to put my hats like next to my left arm, and i had to reach all the way across my body to use them and i HATED IT.

so guy, just go with a decent set of double bass pedals... if you dont have em already.

these are the ones i had on my last set...

Alright, I might not go with a double bass, now reading what you have posted. I still may get it. But Only because nothing is more badass, then walking in some scrawny white boys room, and seeing some massive drumset. Then watching the scrawny white boy bust some groovy beats.

I may just stick with my single bass, and my double bass pedal.

BTW: Luke; my drumset has some dents, and scratches. Is their a way to fill them in? Or something, even changing my drumset color. Right now its a Custom Amber, which is quite a rare drum color. After all it is vintage
