Ok the one on the right looks like it has scaffolding all over it... freaking great and its even winning in the online votes!

We have eh (one with the tall tower) to ugly (laticework crap). I hope it is the tall slender tower one chosen of the two, or simply go back to the drawing board and come out with a better design.
Opinions are not important.

I would just rebuild the old towers, but add on a couple stories.

A memorial some of you say, thats just not practical.  Sorry but that is what things end up coming to.  You can\'t just get rid of a place that had enough business offices for over 50,000 people.

By going bigger, isn\'t exactly always the better soution. I don\'t really like either design, though the one on the right is better then the one on the left in my estimation.

Preserving the "footprint" of the two building is a respectible gesture and can serve as a memorial and still provide a space for those businesses that will relocate back into the building.

Bozco, I can\'t believe what I am hearing

3000+ people died because of those buildings, isn\'t it just insulting that their lives aren\'t even worth anything that you go and build some mega ass tower there again, as if they didn\'t even mean anything?

I\'m all for mega ass towers, but not on the same site. Demolish some old crappy towers and rebuild there, but not on the same site, i think thats really disrespectful.

I memorial is much better.

I see your point, but this is manahatten and realestate is limited. I know that sounds emotionless, but its the facts. plus too by rebuilding it doesn\'t have to be a lack of respect for those who lost their lives its a symbol of the american spirit that you can tear down what ever buildings we have we will rebuild.

Every soul lost on that day should have something to memorialize them and it should be on site, but you shouldn\'t look at the buildings as a disrespect to those who died, but a symbol in its own right to our strenght to rebuild and still be able to pay our respects to those who died.. If I or someone I knew had died on that day, I would like a memorial, but at the same time I would want them to rebuild the buildings.

Pats

I understand what your saying, I really do, I am all for patriotism and the american spirit, but c\'mon, there is no way you can build the cities tallest tower on that piece of land, it just seems so sick, especially if it were to become an incredibly important tower (as the WTC were). Imagine if there was a bomb blast, or another plane disaster, and more people lost their lives, it just seems like your asking for trouble.

If it were my dicision, I would build a monument of some type as a shrine to all those who died. I would then convert the remaining land into a nice parkland, probably including some kind of mega ass artwork or feature (to rival statue of liberty) to become a new york icon.

I would then tear down some old unused highrises, and use that land to build some mega ass tower.

I think that that land is now kinda sacred, and I dont think that any more blood should be shed there, I mean, the american people would be right out pissed if something happened again on a new tower at that very spot.
