"In a seminar labeled "Doin\' It Again - the Ins and Outs of Sequels" at the Academy of Arts and Sciences\' D.I.C.E. Summit in Las Vegas last week, Naughty Dog founder and co-president Jason Rubin spoke of the next installment in the Jak & Daxter franchise.
Talking openly about the ups and downs of working on The Precursor Legacy, Rubin admitted that Naughty Dog often doesn\'t achieve its ultimate vision until a sequel or two into the franchise, citing the Crash series as a perfect example. "We set out to make [our ideal Crash] game and then work at it until we make it right," said Rubin. "Crash 3 was that game for us."
"There is [that ideal] Jak & Daxter game that we want to make," he continued, "we just never reach it until the second or third game."
As for what to expect from Jak & Daxter 2, Rubin hints at a potentially darker sequel, with weapons as a probable addition. "There is no question that this new title is reacting and maturing to the market," he admitted.
Although SCEA has yet to officially announce Jak & Daxter 2, Gamers.com can confirm that the game will arrive this fall.
