Resident Evil with DMC controls = too easy?
« on: March 07, 2003, 11:15:50 AM »
Any thoughts about that? I thought it would be great if they kept the stationary camera angles but added the DMC controls. Then i thought that would make killing zombies TOO DAMN EASY!

But I kinda wish they\'d use it one day.

Limited choice of moves and weapons are what make survival- Horror games survival horror.
Even if you have DMC controls and monsters that are hard to kill still it wouldnt be called survival horror. It would have turned into a hard to beat action game.

I still prefer RE controls...

Too used to it...
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

I wish RE was more action oriented, meaning not restricted to movement etc. etc.

I would probably play one then :D

I love RE controls. Anything else would not work.

The controls was meant to be un-precise and make you nervous and they deliver on that.

yea, im totally used to the controls, i think they suit it fine, plus with the angles always changing it would be hard to put the dmc controls in, esp as you in smaller rooms that dmc

Zombies would be chopped rather easily though. I could definitely use the DMC controls with just the knife. :)

Agree, the RE controls should stay as it is.  With the game being based on prerendered backgrounds I can not see the controls working any better.
A word of advice:

In the working world there is only two ships that sink: 1.) a Battle ship, and 2.) Partnership

All that the RE controls needed were auto-lockon, and 180degree turn functions..

And those were added a long time ago.

How can anyone complain?

You must completely suck at the games to have these problems.

no its the fact that the game controls are So un-precise that the Zombie Fighting is Dull while the Boss Battles far too unbalanced.

the Tyrant fight on the Cargo plane in RE:VC is a prime example.

No... its just that i can\'t Stand a Series that just release game after game with very little in innotive gameplay.

RE 1= Superb
RE 2 = Great but a little of the same
RE 3 = Oh God... this is starting to smell like another Tomb Raider
RE : CV = I played the DMC demo more
RE 1 (NGC remake) : Zzzzzzzzzzzzz  :snore:  only played about a hour...going to trade it in to get Metroid Prime.

I for one absolutely hate the RE controls.. I loved the games back in the RE - RE2 days. I just loved being blessed with the skills of zigzagging through Resident Evil 2 with only a handful of kills. But after DMC came out, I realized I like more and flashier action. RE:CV felt like a horrible chore, and in the end I pretty much hated it, and I haven\'t gotten more than 10 screens into RE3 and got bored of it...

Agreed, an RE game with DMC controls would be silly. Why? Dante\'s half demon, the RE bunch normally ain\'t (maybe Dante should bite their frikkin\' necks if that did the trick). But honestly, you have to wonder; you got these super highly trained special forces and cops and stuff, and they are about as agile as turtles in quicksand. Real turtles, not those ninja mutant ones... I\'m just annoyed by it nowadays. Silent Hill is much better when it comes to horror. RE is cheap shocks galore... bah...

your not the only one buddy...

Silent Hill is THE KING of Horror.

i have fealt more terrorfied at the prospect of whats behind the next door in Silent Hill than Resident Evil anyday.

Also in this Day in age Do we realy need the door loading times as seen in EVERY GOD DAMN RESIDENT EVIL game since the First one :rpissed: .

DMC showed you could have more detail and possibly "Data" without the need to disguise loading times with a crappy animation of a door opening

Also could we please have a RE game with out the Goddamn need to use type writer cartridges to save your game… it just takes up too much time to go running back to the supply box and get one

We\'ve had this discussion before.  RE has had more updates with each installment than Silent Hill has.

Silent Hill 3 looks to continue the rehash trend.

Un-precise?  I can weave inbetween zombies with ease, stop, shoot out ones head while a second is coming at me from behind, then run away past another zombie and take them both out (in a constrained corridor mind you - actual example) with no problems.  Yah, that\'s imprecise .  I hate when developers are so careless that they make controls that go exactly where you want the character to go.

Oh, and the boss fight against Tyrant on the cargo plane was easy.  Like I said, you suck.

And besides, you find the regular zombie killing dull (considering your objective is to AVOID the zombies, not just shoot them all, though I blame the decrease in difficulty for allowing people to kill all the zombies and still have plenty of bullets), you\'d think you\'d appreciate the more action packed, and quick thinking boss battles.

It\'s not disguising load times.  It\'s there for effect.

Oh, and more detail?  Yah, DMC had more detail than REmake and RE0

You mean, going all the way back to the supply box, that 99% of the time is RIGHT NEXT TO THE SAVE SPOT?

Oh, and yah, unlimited saves in RE = bad idea.
