I believe it came out this week.

OK splinter cell on ps2 is great, as great as the xbox version.
only a few technical details are lost in this version, some aliasing on some objects, less shadows, some textures looking blury.
but that\'s not a big deal, + the ps2 has some extras (I dont know about, probably you have to finish the game)
frame rate is good on ps2, no worries.

great news heh? :)

i got it but i havent played it much really been too busy  with  "raven shield".
but as far as i can tell the framrates are quite good, same goes  for the graphics, but quite frankly i find that the xbox version looks better.
but as of yet i find it to be a great game, but if yer not convinced give it a rent.

I\'ve got it yesterday. Graphics are good nice effects, heat haze, smoke, reflections on floors,  fridges, silver metalic walls etc. The framerate is smooth so far (just got to the oil rig level) anyway it\'s better than the demo in that respect.

The controls suck ****.

The AI is completely dumb you can stand right in front of a soldier without him seeing you.

The aiming is also **** it takes an age to rotate yourself thus resulting in getting killed most of the time when you go up against more than 1 man, very frustrating.

Average game from what I\'ve played so far, but I\'ll stick with to see if it gets any better.

Well, I think the controls are a breeze, but then again I\'m talking Xbox version here. Aiming.... in the Xbox version it\'s quite good, but how come you go take on more than 1 enemy at a time ? :surprised  The point of this game was to take \'em out without drawing attention to oneself, in other words ; one by one.
I mean....when playing SC myself I\'ll always take enemies out one by one, don\'t be in such a hurry i\'d say. That\'s the beauty in this game ; just trying to get past guards or taking them out without getting shot or noticed ONE single time. It takes kind of a perfectionist attitude to it. Heck,  even if I take out a guard and he still manages to shoot me once (even with no further consequences or alarms following) I tend to just restart from last saved check point to get it 100 % right. Once I get that right, it\'s just that ultimate feeling of achievement. And then I\'m not even mentioning the fact that several reviews on the net rumour that the PS2 and NGC versions are a tad easier than the Xbox version I\'m playing. (just have my Xbox with SplinterCell since mid March).
BTW. browsing several boards, i\'ve noticed 2 different \'camps\' have emerged among gamers worldwide ; Metal Gear Solid ( 2 ) fans VS Splinter Cell fans. Amusing to see such heated discussions (read ; flame wars)

i\'ve the PC version sometime ago and frankly, this game isn\'t really exciting....shooting light bulbs....crawling in the dark...and the PC version difficulty is ridiculous. It\'s almost imposibble to creep behind an enemy and grab him by the neck as they don\'t stand still very long and will heard the slightest noise even when you\'re walking slowly!!! To me this game is OVERRATED. So much for "Console game of the year"...yeah, rite....more like "Light Bulbs shooting game of the year"...

"Come and destroy menacing evil light bulbs!! (tm)"

Gimme MGS2 anyday.

It\'s a good game but highly overrated, just like Halo IMHO.

I like splinter cell a lot. I beat the PC version. The main thing is to save when you pass something difficult, because you are going to die since its a lot of trail and error and a lot of people dont have the patience. I say its a definite rent. I usually play stuff like Raven Shield and this is a good change of pace for me.

The thing that bummed me out was i heard they arent making any maps for the PC version which was one of the things i was looking forward to and a big reason i bought the PC version over the PS2 version.

I\'ve played all the versions and completed the PC version.

Frankly the PS2 version is the worst out of the bunch with lower quality textures and graphics and a bad framerate in areas. The words Max Payne spring to mind.

It is a great game though so if you could see past this then get it.
