Midnight Club II
« on: April 17, 2003, 05:15:48 AM »
Juslight and I picked this up last night.  This game rox!!! I love it.  I played till 3:00 last night.  Online is pretty cool too.  They did a great job in recreating the sport of street racing... Or at least the personalities of the people in the sport.   Its pretty damn funny actually.  Gameplay is great.  Its cool cause during gameplay, its not all about how fair the levels are, its how good you are at driving the car.  (The AI  can drive like ass, and during a race it can really F\\/
I give the game a solid 8.7  (I dont think any game will be a 10 in my eyes)

very good actually.. there is some "jaggies", but not too bad.  The texturing is awesome thought.  I like the way the set up the game as far as teh career mode.  You drive around the city and look for people to race.  (they show up on your map as a red arow)  When you see them, you flash your high-beams and follow them to a place to race.  you go through a series of races, starting with easier to harder, and race for pink slips.  so far Ive seen (Car supposed to be) a civic, integra, silvia, RX-7, and a motocycle.  Oh yeah, also a supra and a GTO.  last night, some guy was driving some crazy ass lookin thing that looked like the bat mobile.  it had to jet engines on the back of it.  Top speed was like, 250 mph. Oh.. one more thing.  I LOVE the NOZ effect :)

its actually a nice challange.  Its not like normal racing.  Theyre really arent any rules to go by.  You can take any way you want to get to checkpoints, and you can cut corners by bashing through storefonts and malls.  pretty cool.  Oh yeah, rockstar threw in the whole "running over peds".

There are 3 different modes.  Arcade, Career, and Networking mode.  You need to play career mode to receive all the vehicles.  The further you have gotten in career mode, the more vehicles you have to choose from when playing online.  I havent played Arcade mode yet, but I assume you can choose from all the cars.  Ofcourse, that could also be set up like online mode where you still need to have unlocked the levels in career mode.

This game and the Cruis\'n series get my vote for the best street arcade racers out there.  I wish more developers would create these types of racers that put fun before simulation (which is nice but gets boring).

Extreme G and F-Zero are personal arcade racer favs but those don\'t count because the cars are fake! :)

I just rented it and its very addictive. Put the cd in at 2:00 now its all of a sudden 3:40. Sucks i gotta go somewhere, but ill definitly be playing it later tonight. Dont really have a \'review\' besides the controlles are arcade-like which would be obvious, and theres damage control which i didnt know. Couldnt tell if it slowed down ur car or not. NOZ er whatever the turbo sh*it is is awesome. too bad you can only use it once a race.

Cool.  Maybe I\'ll get it then.  Using the steering wheel is pretty cool.

Peace out.
