no, I said if anyone was going to judge what is good and bad it would have to be based of sales. Simply because you can\'t judge facts on opinions. Like i said. Some people hate spiderman, while others like it, people and critics alike. Who is right?  Good or bad, it\'s all opinions.

it\'s not good cinema, even the most idiotic of critics couldn\'t say it is and keep thier respect

it\'s like a pastry. appealing and pleasant, but no real substance

how can you compare game sales to DVD sales?  honestly bro, your trolling at this point to save any grace of an argument you might have never had

mm why you taking on this battle?!  You know its lost, but you continue to truck on.  I use to get mad for the same things and try and correct people.  But if you truely understand these MTV kids, then you know its a  lost cause.  Granted, there will be a few who wake up from the Matr....MTV and realize what a good movie is.

But like everything else on MTV, its entertainment.  You need to understand that most thing do have a value.  I realize that your main argument is that The Matrix is not a stellar or the greatest movie ever created.  BUt it is entertaining.  It is very succesfull and fullfilling that nitch.  Like most of the music (if any) on MTV sucks, because I\'ve realized they are entertainers and not artists.  So now, its all good, I don\'t get worked up over it.

If anyone is trolling it\'s you!

say whatever you want, but it won\'t change the fact that your arguments are based on opinion, and nothing else!

I\'m not saying I think matrix 2 is a really great movie, but, like soulgrind rightfully states, it is a huge succes (probably), which makes it a well made movie.

whether you like it or not, is not the real question here. What\'s important is what the majority of people think of it.

and....please.....stop acting as if you\'re some kind of movie god, cause you aren\'t!

agreed kirath

someday, they will realize they lost thier creative thought and imagination for something more than special effects, bullet time, and a marilyn manson soundtrack

i pity people who watch a movie just to be entertained, like soully and echo.  it\'s what they programmed themselves to expect.  i can\'t blame them tho, they have short attention spans, and movies like spiderman, and the matrix appeal to them

movies like "the seven samurai" are in no way entertainment, they\'re an experience.  shame on anyone who cannot recognize the difference

politepet, i\'ll add you to my collective list of who know less about culture cinema then me, thanks

Its ok mm. I finally understand were you are coming from. Being a uneducated movie critic and all. You must be right, I guess those critics that did get a education in cinema history and all the other bs must be wrong in their opinions if they don’t meet yours. I’m sorry I ever doubted your opinions.   lol yea, right.    Grace of aguement.. You have none what so ever. Your whole argument is based on opinion. That\'s no bases for anything.. It\'s lame to even think you had one to begin with..  PROVE me wrong man. Show me why you are right, and everyone else that\'s ever liked a movie that you don\'t is wrong..

PROVE IT.

Until you prove anything I’m not replying. Take it how you will. Think you\'ve won on opinions i don\'t care. I\'m not debating over your opinions anymore. It\'s a waste of my time. How a person thinks they\'ve won a debate on their opinions alone is so sad. It\'s quite pathetic really. Good cinema is in the eye of the beholder. People will like what they like, not what they are told to like. When you grow up a bit, you\'ll realise everyone’s idea of good cinema is different. You do not set the standard for good cinema.
I\'m not debating on whats good or bad cinema. That is ones opinion which cannot be debated. I\'m debating on why your idea of good cinema is the right one over everyone elses..

mm I think your being too cynical though and making it appear you are an elitist by trying to seperate yourself from others.  The comfort should come from the fact that you know the difference, not from trying to get others to see you point of view.

i am an elitest, i earned that right when it comes to culture cinema

I can choose what is good cinema and what isnt because I learned what is classified as good cinema.  UNLESS, you have seen a broad range of films designated as "classics", please STFU and return to the matrix discussion in off-topic.  just because you saw matrix 2 and thought it was a great film, gives you no right to throw yer 2 cents in

soully, please leave your insecurities and ineptitude out of discussions, it\'s pathetic.  it\'s always "prove this" and "prove that" with you.

bottom line, and last time i will say it.  if you have not seen the films i mention repeatedly, please STFU, you have NO clue about good cinema.  you have no comparison.

take comfort in knowing?  there can be no comfort when i go to the independant theatre by my house, sit down for a film, and then watch 3/4 of the people walk out and demand thier money back cause they didnt know the movie was subtitled.  makes me wanna spit on them for thier lack of culture and acceptance

how many times do i have to see "matrix r0x0rs!", or "lord of the rings is the greatest film evah!!!" before i wanna vomit

again, i am an elitest.  agree or not, i am very knowledgeble on the film industry and history (foreign and domestic).  it\'s been over a 20 year effort, more than most of you have been alive.........

1 final reply.

It\'s always prove this and prove that with me because you never prove anything. You base everything soley on your opinions. Why should anyone see the movies u listed, you do not set the standard in good movies, All though you\'d like to think so.

I still can\'t understand how u claim what is good and bad cimema from your opinions. It\'s just so stupid. You don\'t know what i like, or the rest of the world population likes. You can\'t tell people what they should and shouldn\'t watch, simply because you like or dislike a movie. No matter what crap you come out with, it\'s always your opinions... Claim them as facts if u want. If it makes you feel better.

admit you\'re scared or too immature, or just simply lazy to watch the movies i listed.

you have no other reason, or excuse

there\'s your proof (as usual)

actuall, at this point in time, yer probably afraid to watch a film like "the seven samurai", and say "mm was right, that was an experience"

Sure I’ll watch them. Hey, i may even like them... But i may not too.
Does that mean I’m wrong, or to young to know any better...
Nope. It just means I know what I like and no one will change that. :)  You let critics and other people dictate to you what to like all you want mm.. But i won\'t.   After i watch them, i won\'t be telling the person next to me that they are wrong in the choice of movies they like, or that they don\'t like good cinema. I have enough sense to know it\'s personal preference.

There\'s a PC patch out for ETM.
Get it here

Seems to solve a lot of texture issues (flickering etc)
Apart from that i can\'t tell what else has changed.

wow, I just realized how shalow this conversation was/is.  I thought mm was actually making a valid point and not being some whinny bitch fanboy..

mm, just because people don\'t understand the base for your opinions does not give you the right to shit on them.  You just made me realize that your arguments have no merit just by the way you respond to people.  Granted, maybe you do have some knowledgable insight, no one cares!  They way you come across with such information shows your ignorance and just how shalow you are.  Its a shame too, because I\'ve seen all ALL of the movies you\'ve listed, I consider myself to have a good understanding of what good cinema is, but unfortunatly we have zealots like you who try to act allmighty.  You got a fed a little bit of knowledge and now take that limited expereince and try to impose it on all around you.
