July 28, 2003 - Yahoo news posted an article today (thanks Voodoo) about our buxom friend Lara Croft. It seems that Paramount is trying to lay a bunch of the blame on the below average opening to Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life on Eidos\'s recently released, and almost unanimously hated, Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness. What they forgot to add was that people remember how crappy the first movie was as well, and therefore had little to no interest in wasting another 8-10 dollars on another piece of crap movie. Not even Angelina Jolie\'s hotness is going to get as many moviegoers to fork over the cash after last year\'s horrific movie debut for the heroine.
Paramount distribution president Wayne Lewellen said, "The only thing we can attribute that to is that the gamers were not happy with the latest version of the \'Tomb Raider\' video game, which is our core audience." The only thing, huh? There\'s nothing like a healthy dose of denial to keep a guy happy. When pretty much everybody is panning the movie for being horribly lame, maybe you should take a step back and take a look on the inside instead of playing the blame game. Yes, Eidos and Core made a really bad game, but Paramount also made a really bad movie. Twice. Us stupid people have short memories, but it\'s much harder to forget traumatic experiences like the first Tomb Raider movie. Why would as many people willfully subject themselves to another? I say be thankful it did that well.

IMO: The first movie is a HORROR with the only saving grace is U2\'s title track "Elevation", which later won a Grammy for Best Rock Performance.
AOD is utter piece of shit...but with so many good movies recently(T3, Hulk, Charlie\'s Angel, Bruce Almighty etc etc ), just about anything is a better option than another crappy TR movie!!! AOD being crap has nothing to do with TR:COL doing piss poor.
And oh yeah, I did watch the first movie and the horrifying experience is still in my mind, I ain\'t gonna make the same mistake twice. Jolie\'s boobs ain\'t worth the 2 hours of torture inside the dark room.
