PS2, Barcelona and Mayorca are cold places compared to the south. Powercuts are frequent in this year\'s time: many A/C, many restaurant, many refrigerators... many tourists... sometimes the power centrals cannot supply the vast amount of energy that is needed and the service collapses.

Of course, if I hadn\'t A/C, I would have died many years ago. Just notice that for 2 consecutive nights we\'ve been sleeping at 28ºC (that\'s impossible to bear without A/C).

Just imagine only 80 years ago, AC was still in its infancy and everyone had to deal the with heat with hand fans, electric fans and ceiling fans. :) In fact, after the AC was more in use, building and home designs changed!

I guess i\'m lucky since my apartment is half underground it stays cool as long as I keep the windows shut and the blinds closed.  My friends consider my apartment a cave, but I like only paying a $35 utility bill every month (it would be well over $150 a month if I ran air-conditioning all the time).

and I do have central air... but I haven\'t had to use it yet as we haven\'t gotten above 95 degrees so far this summer.

I don\'t think that will happen for a long time. Americans are lazy and these calculations will drive the average (atleast me :) ) crazy. I can\'t ever see my life in the metric system. I live my life by inches, degrees F, yards, ect. But I guess we use more or less both. I use meters, cm, grams. I never use km and stuff when driving. So really, we are bisystem kind of people. Enough of my rambling for now :bounce:
