DVD problem
« on: September 12, 2003, 12:42:51 AM »
After installing XP in my system I have a problem playing DVDs. Programs or system tell me that there\'s a problem with the author copyright of the DVD so it won\'t play. The problem tell me that the TV out option of the gforce 2 is activated... the dvd thinks that i\'m gonna copy it and then stops the play. I\'ve looked for the option bur I don\'t know how to desactivate this tv out option. I have not secondary monitor, or anything similar. And yes, DVDs are totally authentic.

Look in Advanced Display properties > GeForce > nView and check device settings.

Failing that there is a registry hack to do it:
Go to run type in regedit then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\NVIDIA Corporation\\Global\\NVTweak\\DISPLAY1\\DisplayModes and delete the tvo and tv strings. Before doing so make sure to back up that file or your whole registry whichever u choose. By the way after deleting this 2 strings you will not be able to use the tv-out feature.

Settings are okay, so I dunno what to change. I prefer to don\'t touch the registry. I\'d rather stability over DVD :D

I have done some google searches and it seems that windows xp does not come with a DVD codec installed that allows it to recognise and play DVD\'s. Maybe you should see if you can find an upgrade for media palyer or PowerDVD if you have them.

EDIT: Look at this link, it explains things further.

do u wanna watch the dvd on a tv?
if so then all u have to do is set the tv as the primary display, then u should be able to play the dvd with no prob.

otherwise turn of the tv out option.

NO! I wanna see the DVDs here, in my monitor. Could you tell me where the hell is the tvout option in the GForce panel??? I only can see the screen to detect secondary monitors. Nothing about switching off that damned option.

It\'s better to have the lastest drivers for performance, but that assumes they work.   If they don\'t work in a major way, you rollback.

You might only be able to find the TV out/primary display options if you go through properties of the desktop -> settings -> advanced... my TV stuff doesn\'t appear with the toolbox or anything.
