Are you implying that one of the men on this forum might just as easily have posted a thread about "What are you going to get your boyfriend for Christmas?" True, there\'s no audience for such a question because there are so few female members, but even if there were, I don\'t think any man would think to post such a thing.
I\'m not trying to say anything specifically about Rya, a person I do not know. I\'m just trying to call attention to the cultural assumptions we may be ignoring. We are conditioned that men give the gifts, and women expect the gifts. Women do give gifts too, but men do not expect them. A further stereotype is that men expect other things that women give in compensation for the gifts. Like I said, there are individuals who overcome the conditioning, but in my experience they are less than common.
