i\'ve read nothing but stellar reviews for the new PoP game on ps2.  I\'m definately at least gonna rent it, then maybe my wife will get it for me for christmas.

Is it just me or are there TONS of awesome games coming out now or will be shortly?

Sammy, you are obeying the letter of the law, while ignoring the spirit.  Almost all of the good abandonware sites have setup an easygoing truce with the game companies.

They link to places you can purchase the game if it\'s still available, give reviews, and links to the manufacturers websites.  However, most manufacturers don\'t bother asking them to remove links to older programs that you cannot get elsewhere.... in many cases, not even from the original makers.  There are a few companies who don\'t allow any abandonware (like sierra), but I think if you vet the sites, you\'ll find most do it like the "underdogs" do (carefully not letting you download anything otherwise available).

I just picked up the game last night.  I played for about 2 hours.  So far its pretty good.  The sound could be better though.  The CG is kind of old school, but I\'m letting that slide right now because the gameplay is good.  I\'ll give you guys a better review later.

abandonware is not license free, it\'s just not worth the legal battle over it

want to play PoP?

I\'m further into the game now.  The gameplay is still friggin awesome, but the sound is just pathetic.  Ofcourse, its so fun to play that I grin and bear it.  the story is ok, nothing spectacular.  But like I said... Friggin awesome gameplay.  Definately worth renting.

I know some people are slow and not the brightest, so let me break this down.

Just because it is no longer sold - does not mean the company does not hold a copyright on it.

Take DVD\'s for examples, just because one goes OOP, for whatever reason, does not mean you have the legal right to get online and download it.

Played it yesterday, pretty shitty really.

It\'s turned into every other 3d platformer, nothing more to say really, looks like I\'ll be buying the orginal on Megadrive again!

It\'s not they are invisible, it\'s just we are not going to take your word.

Anyone else have impressions? More trust worthy impressions?
