after not playing the first one i thought this one would be a nice surprise. it was but it has its downfalls.
the controls are a little weird at first, considering you can neither jump nor duck. it caught me off gaurd for a moment or two but the controls are easy to get used to. once the minor control obsticles are passed its easy to play.
the game itself can be quite challenging. i dont want to make it sound like im an expert gamer or anything, but it seemed right to start it on easy, rather than on normal after trying both.
the game is played like a pseudo rpg, you walk around a game-board like thing running into enemies and powerups. this can get quite monotonous (sp?) but i still think its fun.
battles are unique. there are some moves that knock opponents into another area, triggering a in-game "cinematic" if you will. others require both players to start a botton mashing contest and the winner gets the finishing move of the small standoff. most of the moves are quite impressive, considering the graphics are just beutiful.
there is also a skill shop, where you can buy new moves and powerups to customize each character with.
the game overall is pretty good, but could have been improved with a little more character variety. however i do think this game is great for a party, because its easy to play and the battles can get quite intense.
i say rent it if you think you wouldnt like the monotony of it all, but if you think that wouldnt be a factor, you might want to pick this one up.
