Jesus describes the end of the world in Matthew chapter 24.
  • v14: "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."
  • v34: "I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened." -my Bible has a footnote that the word \'generation\' can also be translated as race.
  • 36: "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angles in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."
The books of Jeremiah, Isaiah, Daniel, and Revelation are usually debated about their representations.  Many people believe their prophecies to refer to governments or places or actions in the past that have already occurred.

Whether yer joking or not, have some respect for others here who hold the Bible in high regard. You might be talking about your family reunion and I doubt you\'d appreciate me calling them stupid. The Bible is just a book and not to be taken literally. It was probably just originally written as a life guide, teaches about morals by using historical people; not to be taken literally by its readers. But  its just a story book and has no impact or truth in my life.

Or it could be a best of book. It is written in two different time periods when values are different. Afterall God hates everyone in the Old testemant, and in the new he is a hippie.

Thats whats strange. In the Old Testament, God hates all and is kind of a warmonger. In the New Testament, he\'s good and righteous. One reason I don\'t take the book literally.

Mostly my opinion. You have to read between my lines in my post. I\'m not stating it as fact but using words like \'probably\' and \'in my life\' and stuff like that. Sorry if I came across as if its a fact or something.

In the old testment, God is flooding the earth, killing first born kids, sending out plague\'s and just havin\' a good ole\' time torturing the human race.

In the new testment he is a free-lovin\' Hippie who just wants to save the world from itself.

And while you are all debating the bible, I want to make one point.. Every culture has had their books, their beliefs and all of them have had some kind of \'God\' that uses his power to make the human race fear and "love " him. The bible is our modern version of it.

At the beginning of time though there were not 100+ different racial groups. There was one (Hebrews).

The Bible is the ORIGINAL text, the ORIGINAL book from God. When he created the different races and cast them to all ends of the earth (Tower of Babel, in Babylon - Iraq), they then created their own Gods, thus leading to other books.

Its pointless arguing over such topics because people have such altered views permanently inplanted in their heads.

As for the signs of the times, there have been countless other \'signs\'. Its interesting, but no one knows, and I don\'t think anyone will know until it happens. It will be a big surprise, no one will think it will happen because everything will be good. The world will be full of peace I think for a long time, and then something will rapidly change.

anyway, stupid or not, I\'ve decided not to engage in religious debates again...there is such little point. you can throw in a million scientific facts and religious people would still deny it, simply because of their so could \'faith\'...

Buddy, I am not saying that. Infact, I have done my share of reading the bible as I was raised very religious. I will agree that the bible encourages a  set standard of good morals. I will disagree that 90 percent of it actually happened. If there was a man named Jesus, he was nothing more than a con artist, he was the Jim Jones of the day, in my opinion.
