DVD burner\'s problem
« on: January 24, 2004, 01:15:56 PM »
Okay, last night, i bought a TDK DVD writer 4x +/- R/RW.  Well, after hooking it up on my computer, i try to copy some disc to disc copy.  after succesfully copying the disc, i put it on my dvd player to see if it read it.  It just load on my panasonic dvd player but didn\'t play.  Just keep loading and loading.  On my Sony dvd player, it didn\'t play either and have an error message on my ps2.  BTW, the disc i burned is DVD-R.
Not sure what the problem is, i try burning a second DVD-R from a different video source.
So what happen?  Same thing, doesn\'t read on my dvd players and on my dvd-rom.  It just load, but don\'t read it.  Not sure what causes.
I read the instruction booklet and it told if i have one of the troubleshotting symptons, go to their website and update the firmware and it may fix the problem.

So, i download the firmware, updated it to my TDK burner, and reboot my computer.  And try burning my third DVD-R disc, and this time, instead of burning at 4x speed, i slow it down to 2x speed.  So, what happen now?  Same thing, the disc won\'t play on my DVD-ROM, or any dvd players that play dvd-/+r except TDK burner itself.  Only TDK burner recognize it and play it.  Other than that, no players/ROM can play it.

So, does any body know what the heck is going on?  I tried a CD-audio to CD copy and it play on my cd player.  But its a different story on dvd to dvd.  I haven\'t try encoding my home video to my dvd-R, afraid it won\'t play on my dvd players and i don\'t want to waste another blank disc.  the disc cost $1 each and i wasted 5 dvd Rs already.

Before this, i own the Emprex dvd burner, well when i burn my other two DVD-Rs, it does play on my dvd player with skipping and popping noises and it play on my dvd rom.  The problem for skipping maybe dued to my 80GB hard-drive broken pin and i replaced it with a new 180GB HDD.

well, i wasted another dvd-r disc to burn my home video, and it still doesn\'t play on my dvd players or dvd rom.  I updated the software that burn the dvd called easy cd creator 6.  The software suck, suck than their old version.  even after i updated, the dvd-r doesn\'t play.  So my guess is both the software and the burner have problems.  The burner isn\'t really that good and neither is the software.

try DVD+R.  Also try acquiring Nero 6, and use that instead.

I agree with theomen,  I use +R/+RW disks burned with Nero on my sony multiburner, and my cheap DVD player plays them no problem. Try a different brand of media also.

My Panasonic doesn\'t accept the +R media, while the Sony dvd player in my brother\'s room support both + and - media.  The playstation 2 support only the - media too.

the Nero media, does this software do dvd home video?  like a digital camcorder transfer and edited to computer and transfer to DVD with menus and title, chapter and the such.  I want to know because i want to transfer my homevideo on tape to dvd.
