DSL question
« on: February 11, 2004, 01:14:43 PM »
Anyone keep tabs on the amount of bandwidth used?  Since I only get 5gb a month I have a BW meter, and if I leave my computer alone for like 30minutes, the sumbitch has gone up 50mb.  I know I don\'t have any spyware, and I checked through my firewall and the program that is sending and recieving is my damn connection software.  I mean god damn, if I leave it connected all day, it\'ll double my limit in just a couple of days.  Anyone have this prob?

Connection software grabbing 50mb?  Download Zonealarm or tell your current Firewall to not allow your software from getting on the net.

Forgot how good it was to get unlimited broadband.

With zonealarm you can click the "lock" button to shut down all incoming and outgoing traffic when you are away from the PC.  I do this automatically now when I need to step away.

I pay $34 a month.  It\'s pretty fast though, right now I get about 500kb/sec and they\'ll be installing new hardware in about a month and I\'ll get close to 5000-6000kb/sec.  It\'s wireless DSL, and the only company I can go through because of my location.
