What\'s everyone running? (Post your Specs)
« on: March 15, 2004, 01:06:17 AM »
Alright - post your specs and what you\'re running.

As most people know, I am running OS X on a G3 600mhz iMac, with 256 megs of Ram. It\'s nothing special, OS X is stable but the computer is far from a workhouse. With that said, I\'m in the process of building a new computer and goin\' back to the evil empire (*cue Star Wars / March of the Empire music*) and using a MS OS. Though I will also most likely run a distro of Linux also.

With that said - post your specs, OS you are running and if you built it or bought it.

(Oh and just for fun - how many PC\'s do you own or have owned? This will be my fourth!)

I\'m torn right now, on if I am going to go with dual CPU\'s or just a single CPU. A part of me really wants to go with DUAL CPU\'s - but I am not sure I want to commit the money to it. This PC is mainly inspired for runnin\' Half-Life 2 and Doom III.
:)

The only thing I know for sure is it will have two 160 gig Maxtor drives, 1 gig of Ram. The rest I am still debating on...argh, the choices.

i bought in December

p4 2.8 fsb800
p4p800 mobo
dual kit 512 ram DDR400 (1gig ram)
radeon 9600 pro 128 megs
Antec 350pw

i kept my old audigy1 pro
cd r-rw
dvdrom
floppy
17" nec

going dual processor if you are an app guy. if its for game, you wont notice the difference for the price invested. Put that money into ram or better graphic card.

If i were you though, i\'d buy a 9600 and wait the next generation of card wich should be out within next month or 2.
can\'t see why not!

even better.. wait for the new line of cards. So all the current cards drop in price. I doubt u want to pay 600+ dollers for a gfx card.
