I don\'t think anyone in their right mind can call sattelite internet "broadband". If they do, I urge them to do research on it and if they are still not convinced it is not a true form of broadband, then please, by all means, sign up for it. I did at one point, I was an early adopter of the technology and it is not worth having.

Well, i\'m on a 512 plan, I download at about 60k a sec MAX depending on the server, wouldn\'t make any difference on my end if the server won\'t support my speeds.    Tad faster then 56k?  I was on 56k. I was lucky to get 5k a sec.   Seems mine is MUCH faster then 56k.  If i\'m not on BB, what am i on?  dialup? pity i don\'t dialup.    

Your idea of BB is anything under 1mbit is not BB. So what is it then?   Just because its capped, doesn\'t mean its not broadband.

The main company (British Telecom) are tight fisted with their money and are reluctant to upgrade local Telephone exchanges for ADSL...well untill now that is.

I think Capcom\'s point is back in the \'good ole\' days\' when 1.5 down was standard , people truly got the full advantage of broadband. Now a\'days companies are getting worse and worse about cutting bandwidth UP and DOWN.  Think about it as an American for a second.  A huge amount of American\'s can\'t get access to broadband and those that can are having a hard time actually getting access to a nice amount of bandwidth, unlike per say three to five years ago.

Um I got comcast offering there super fast BB service, Aol, Media One, At&t, Sbc, And there are  a few local heads who offer some forum of BB service.

So there are several options you can choose from in my area:p

Comcast = AT&T

still consider yourself lucky u have so many options.  From ooseven\'s post it seems Uk aint as fortunate.

At&t offers dsl comcast  offers cable modem. One is cable the other is telephone. Comcast is know setting up cable telephone service though:eek:

I don\'t think the arguement was ever if he was techinally right - it was if he is right in a sense that are we being screwed with current broadband offerings. It\'s more a complaint about the current status of broadband in America.

Thats just a opinion on what his IDEA of broadband is.. Broadband has nothing to do with download speeds.

most americans i\'ve spoken to are on unlimted plans at 20 to 40 usd a month.. some are on uncapped speeds. In australia you won\'t find any city/suburb that would even come close.
All the isps have capped speeds and downloads for that price.
