GeForce 6800 Ultra surprises!

1 you just stated the card will be available in 40 days(which by the way there is no confirmed date of release), therefore since the NV40 will not be available for well over a month, what you see here is called a paper launch. If you actually followed the PC gpu world you would see NVIDIA is notorious for there paper launches "FX LINE" ring a bell.

(1) I do frequent the NV forums and second, it was on Nvidia\'s own homepage that the card was suppose to ship in 45 days  . So, that is an offical announcement.

Quote
I suggest you take some time to read around NVIDIA forums, you "know" the people whom this card is targeted towards. You will notice that many of them are worried about weather or not they have sufficient power to run the card. These are after all the enthusiasts-remeber Nvidia is recommending 480W

Give me a break. This card is aimed for power users and power users already have a PSU that will be A-OK or they will upgrade. Yea, people are bitching and moaning, but they always do when something doesn\'t go exactly their way. But guess what, it\'ll sell a ton and in six months no one will care about this whole two molex conncetor nonsense.

[Quote[ One more thing, NV40\'s Power requirement is not very friendly to OEM\'s whom see the PQ being more of a risk take.
[/Quote]

You know what will happen? High performance gaming machines by Alienware (already being pre-sold) and other companies will just have the option to include a larger PSU. Almost every company who does online ordering has a form where you can pick your parts / upgrade your parts. No big deal at all. This $500 dollar videocard is not going to be in your typical DELL system just like a 9800XT is not in a typical Dell system .

Quote
Now ATI on the other hand is known to first manufacture there cards, then do an official release. Makes allot more sense, that is the reason why ATI has not lifted the NDA\'s yet, they want to have the cards within a week to retailers after official launch. NVIDIA of course had decided to paper launch there card

It\'s called showing your guns first and hyping a product. If you had a clue about how any business is ran, you would understand this... Nvidia right now has the hype and attention, which is a great thing for the company. They get the hype going and now everyone eithers buys into it or waits for ATI to show their guns...

If you actualy had a clue and quit assuming people do not follow the CPU / GPU and whole PC hardware scene, you would be a lot more convincing, instead, once again, you come off as an ignorant troll who is clueless as to what is going on. Instead, you just want to repeat what you have heard on some message board and when that fails, try to come up with nonsense about "tattooing Intel and Nvidia\'s logo on your ass" .

Give it a break.

Oh and Ryu  - I didn\'t lock a thread...

You lack to argue opinion, instead of arguing fact... There\'s a big difference..
:)

And the fact is, no one can say how the GPU race is going to go, as we don\'t have ATI\'s showing yet, but one thing can be said, the 6800 Ultra as of this moment, is the most impressive card to the public.

Because you quoted LIC when you said it.  Jesus, you really need to read.

It must be the Batman avatar thing.  That\'s the only way I can explain your animosity towards me, RYU, for something someone else, Living-In-Clip, said.  Who would have thought having similar avatars would produce THIS much hilarity?  I was actually going to change it, but now, it\'s just too funny to me.

how do they buy into it when ati will have there card  out first in store shelves, huh? you say smart business, fair enough, but I will refute that and say even smarter business is making sure you have produced enough boards for retailers, then officially release your card , as ATI plans to do. So when the reviews fire-up online within the next week you can actually go and buy the ATI card, unlike the NVIDIA which you will have to wait. Also we have yet to see how powerful the X800XT is.

Second showing ones guns first is not always the wisest thing to do, "cough" remember the FX line. Ati keep there months shut, about the rx300 core while NVIDIA braged on end about the superiority of there fx line. What did that do instead it put out more heat on NVIDIA when the Fx failed to compete with the 9700pro

Convining like you were. After you are all the guy saying Nvidia did not paper launch there NV40, yet you acuse me of assuming you do not undestand the whole nature of the pc/gpu world.

My point was that ATI\'s offering will be more tempting to OEM\'s than NVIDIA\'s, do you not agree

I guarantee you many people whom are willing to buy high end cards will not all meet the requirement. Don\'t forget lot\'s of people with 550w also have to power there water cooling set-up, etc... Are you telling me a good portion of people whom own 5950U, 9800xt/pro etc.. all have beffy 500w psu, that my friend is BS, cause if you read alot of people sytem spec you will see 400-450 is the average unit people have.

The extra Power requirement for the NV40 is not a major mistake, but it\'s certainly not the best course of action. That\'s all i\'m saying in regards to that. U sit here and defned it, as if it were the best decsion NVIDIA made

suppose to ship in 45 days
remember that is a target date, yet I feel they will have to meet it\'s deadline. Also you said earler 40 days, I too immedatly went to http://www.nvidia.com to verify it
