The concert question: How far would you drive?
« on: April 24, 2004, 06:46:23 PM »
Lastnight, April 23rd, I drove to Cleveland, Ohio to see \'A Perfect Circle\' play for the second time (the first being somewhat more local, Louisville, Kentucky). It was a six hour drive there and another six hours back. Now, I see they are playing in Fairfax, VA and it crossed my mind to make another drive, this time for nine hours. Now, I doubt I will (I seriously doubt it, tho I feel compelled to do it), but the question is...

How far would you drive to see one of your favorite bands perform?

I have taken a bus, which I would consider worse than driving, for 5 hours for a concert.  I\'m not sure how far I potentially would go, because I really don\'t have the means to do that right now, though I imagine I\'d go further.

Favorite band?  My favorite bands are all dead, but if for some miracle they came back, I\'d drive 12 hours to see them.
Wrong. There are two other people who can.

I feel your pain, as I have also taken a bus for upwards a few hours (tho\' not to a concert) and it is ten times worse than driving.

It was well worth it though :D

And dude, Phil, if one of my favorite artists came back from the dead for one concert, I\'d drive a HELL of a lot longer than 12 hours for that!

I\'d drive 10 miles.  That\'s about it.  :)

Eventually I got tired of the hassles of live concerts.  Yes, I\'ve been obsessed enough to drive long distances and put up with all kinds of shit in years gone by, but that time is over.  Now that you have to pay Ticketmaster $65 or whatever, I just say to hell with that.

Eh, well I guess if you take out monetary concerns, there isn\'t a place I wouldn\'t go to see my one of my favorites play.  Well unless they can play in antarctica.  They can go freeze their asses off alone if they decide to play there.

Fairfax VA?  As in George Mason University Patriot Center?  That\'s my college, I can get early discounted tix if u want em.  I will charge you 50% markup tho.

I wouldn\'t travel too far for a concert, they\'ll come around to my area eventually.  I see Jason Mraz this May @ Consititution Hall. :D

Maybe 3 or 4 hours.  Most of the acts I like either come here or Chicago so I wouldn\'t have to drive far.

you ****ers can make fun of metallica all you want.... but they are my favourite band

but they are near the end of they\'re career...

lets say for example they were performing their last show... or their last show I would have a a chance to see....

If i got tickets... there would be no distance that I would not be willing to travel to see that show.

About 10 miles, that\'s as far as I live from central Manchester. When  acts tour the UK, most of them stop off at Manchester at some point anyway.

Seeing as I very rarely (about 0 times) go to them anyway, it\'s pretyy irrelevent as far as I\'m concerned.
Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you. I don't care where you've  been or what you plan to do. I am the resurrection and I am the light. I  couldn't ever bring myself to hate you as I'd like.
