AMD 1.8
512 RAM
Geforce fx 5200 128mb

Nothing special, but enough to be able to play this game.

When I go into an open are my FPS drops down to below 5! On 640x480? Are you kidding me?

I been all over the Ion Storm message boards and nobody can figure out what the deal is with this.

Other people are having the same problem and they have way better computers than mine.

How many programs start when you boot up? You can close them out but they\'re still running after that, so right click them and change the preferences.

"Geforce fx 5200" .... there\'s your problem

Sorry, but that card is really not so good. That
is a generally known fact about the 5200, when it comes to DX9
gaming. It\'s said to be actually slower than a GF4 MX. And yes, Nvidia specifies it as a DX9 card, but it\'s useless cuz it just lacks the speed to actually handle such effects in DX9 games.

If you have a little patience (and cash) i suggest you get the GF 6800 GT  :bounce:

I thought that too. But in the readme for the game it clearly states that with my 5200, I should be able to play the game "with no trouble with settings on high".

I really do want a new card though.

No shit... I might actually be able to afford that.

I think I\'m going to just put Thief 3 away untill I have the system to really play it. As far as I can tell,  It\'s a completely awesome game, and I want to enjoy it in all it\'s glory.

But eh, did they succesfully incorporate that 3rd person view.... or does it feel like an afterthought ? Thus far i have seen only one or two ingame clips from this game and it seemed as if the character was \'sliding\' instead of really treading with his feet...

btw. ...about that readme statement on being able to play the game with that card ; with all due respect ; that\'s just marketing talk by Ion Storm. They probably had one superhigh end testbed pc in wich they tested several cards.

I know:(

I\'m just trying to stay positive here.

And I don\'t use the 3rd person view, the game chugs even worse when I use it.

It ran alright on my buddy\'s p4 2.53 @ 2.8 with Radeon 9700 Pro.  Fraps was showing his framerate at around 35fps during action, 50fps normal.

It\'s gonna be hard to consistently get over 60fps in this game but to be honest it doesn\'t move that fast so I don\'t mind that more of the resoruces are focused on the lighting, texture detail, etc...  It really is beautiful even at a low frame rate.
