I just saw this funny stand up comedian that was talkin about aliens, it was like "Here are these aliens that are masters of traveling lightyears and they are obsessed with the human anus. It is the most mystical and interesting thing they have ever seen. Galaxies are just a pond to them but the asshole is just so compelling."

I just keep on wondering with these kinds of \'encounters\', why would you fly all the way from another galaxie to this one, just to fly a couple rounds over the sea and disappear again?

If we had the technology to move across the universe, and found a planet that was just inhabited by cows.   Do you think bush wouldn\'t claim and move in on that planet?  Who knows how aliens view us. We could be nothing more then primitive apes to them.

I\'m willing to bet that if aliens could travel accross the galaxy and stuff that they wouldn\'t have any need to make peace with us, but then agian you never know. It could turn out to be one of those nice first contacts like on star trek.

Maybe they are not travelling across the galaxy.  It\'s a common theory held by some UFO investigators that these visitors actually reside in an alternate dimenson (for lack of a better word) or in the past or the future.  They don\'t travel in physical space, but just cross a dimenson boundary or pop in and out of time.  In one sense they are already "on this planet" so they don\'t have to be concerned with FTL space travel.  That would explain their ability to do things some witnesses have described; things that would seem to be impossible using our current physics model, such as floating through solid objects, spacecraft starting and stopping, and reversing direction at high rates of speed.

It\'s also possible that what we are seeing are not physical objects at all, but just manifestations of some remote viewing session originating from a distant location.  That would explain why they can wink in and out of sight, and be invisible to radar.

If any of you haven\'t read the series \'maniforld\' by Baxter... if you are into theories like the one two above.. you would love that book.  It\'s one of my Favorites...

I do believe in Aliens, simply because of the numbers of stars in our galaxy alone...  I figure there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of other sentient species in the milky way, and of those species, at least a few must have survived long enough and under the right conditions to have expanded technologically to the point that they can travel between stars.

As to what they would be like if/when they ever arrived here?  Well, they would have evolved completely differently from us.  Who knows how their social structure would be.  As such, I can imagine any number of likely scenarios... study, peacefull contact, resource plunder, or just \'letting us alone\'.
