XBOX is not at all succesful.Its still here because MS has enough funds to cover the losses.As for Nintendo its a very damn fine example of innovative, creative developers, which is economically weaker and its console has more creative titles, and unique than XBOX.

10 million+ sales begs to differ.  Isn\'t it still neck to neck or close enough to the more innovative and creative Gamecube?  Considering the console has a less than adequate lineup of games, IMO, that\'s pretty good.

XBOX would have been a dead console if it wasnt for MS.Its not Hald Life2 or DOOM3 or other PC ports that keep the console alive.

Then what is it?  What\'s driving those sales?  You don\'t think said PC games will benefit the Xbox?

I\'m really at a loss when it comes to seeing this grim future of consoles...I think you\'re blowing it way out of proportion.  The market would surely change but I can\'t think of it in a bad way.

Guess I\'ll just have to see it for myself.:)

No its not.Its one of those phenomenons that proove that the gaming industry isnt changing to any better.Its just money not the preference of the consumer.
MS has the money to buy out, and to promote XBOX over a product with more potential
Gaming on XBOX is very reminisent of the one on PCs.Most XBOX games are what we find on PC.
If the majority of games on XBOX are what define true console gaming more than GC or even DC(another failed but great console.well XBox is still alive) then I am dissapointed to hear that.

See above.Have the money to still keep it alive and have games on it.Also to adverdise it (Nintendo dont do much about adverdising).It may benefit the XBOX by creating some amazement that the PS2 cant do certain games so yes it will benefit the XBOX.But the consumer is converted slowly.Thats exactly what I am talking about.In the long run this "positive" thing will harm the console market as a whole if PC to console ports becomes greately a common thing and the opposite.
Also a console that gets easily chipped and modified.Believe me it is one of those reasons it sells over GC.The consumer likes buying games cheap.And its a PC you can run lots of things on it.Emulators, MP3 programs, video CD drivers, an 80 GB PC HD with copied games on it.....XBOX piracy was also a huge issue discussed a few years ago if you remember well.
You rarely hear about fast selling games on XBOX.The best example is only Splinter Cell.

Well.Judging from what I ve seen from XBOX  and MS intentions thats something I wouldnt like to see.I doubt that MS will manage to succeed that much if Sony play well their cards but if they do succeed these are my worries.

You know what amazes me, you whine and complain about MS\'s intention to blur the line bewteen a PC and a console - yet which company labels their system a "Computer entertainment system"?...Right, Sony.

Lift foot. Enter mouth.
Thank you.

What\'s all the complaining about anyway?  Everyone in the industry is blurring the line on console vs. pc gaming

- Online gaming
- Harddrive with downloaded material and game saves
- Voice chat
- USB keyboards and other devices
- Ability to customize & update your game with self made or downloaded extras

All a console is is a computer anyway, it was just a matter of time before these features were implemented.

Nintendo seems to have been exlucded from this list, maybe because they don\'t have the cash to setup such an infrastructure + added hardware.  So if anything you should be riding Nintendo\'s jock instead of Sony\'s.  Most normal people don\'t care and just want to play games.

Its very obvious that you read only a few parts of my posts.

Labeling for marketing purposes and behaviour are different things :rolleyes:
XBOX=PC architecture/Direct X
PS2=different achiortecture/Different tools

Its only in the "name" but not in the flesh

Online, HD etc and generally PC functions werent mentioned at all as arguements that set XBOX and PS2 apart.
Ofcourse you didnt put the effort to read.You found the perfect excuse to show "wits".

:rolleyes:

Cry me a river - just because it uses the DirectX API means nothing. If that is your case, than look at the DC - it had a WIN CE enviroment for development, I guess you want to tell me that it was a PC "console" . Now, when MS Flight Simulator 2005 shows up on Xbox, please, let me know.
