The only reason I didn\'t vigorously try to get through to Gateway to get that card was very simple.

PCI-E. I\'m going to need to upgrade to take full advantage of the card, and some PCI-E mobos apparently don\'t have full AGP compatibility although they claim to. Something about running "AGP" on the original 33MHz PCI bus..

Not every manufacturer will do this, but at least one already has. Significantly lower performance.

mm, i just hope for you, you have the best performance for your moey with that card. me myself, i\'m still in very much doubt at least for some months i guess. Cuz i really would like to be able to play half life 2 and splinter cell 3 at topquality visuals and framerate.

situation right now :

P4 3,2 ghz with 1 gb of corsair ddr500 and the
nvidia quadrofx 1000 workstation card (nv30)
on the 45.28 drivers all on a pc4800e socket 478
mobo with the antec truepower 380w psu.

now, i will still need the isv certified cards for
my maya5 and cinema4d r8 work, so that means
i need a strong opengl card and stability.
i don\'t see myself upgrading to pci-e, cuz then i might as well
upgrade all of my pc, for which i of course lack the resources.
the future upgrade options the way i see \'em from now ;

- waiting til quadrofx3000 gets cheaper
- getting the geforce 6800 GT since all nvidia cards, wether quadro or geforce, are known to be quite reliable at dcc apps like maya.

i guess... time will reveal the best options..

So am I, yet the funny thing is that I will most likely be getting a 6800 GT-Overclocked to Ultra levels.

While you have opted for the 9700 on Crack, plus I will have a card that can run useless PS 3.0 in FP32 at 15fps--Yeh!!!

GO NVIDIA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have fun with your shitty ATI drivers, for every new Catalyst ATI releases they create more additions bugs.

still on that rag, eh?

oh, and you will never get the gt\'s 350mz core to 450mz, that of the ultra

im only going with ati for the 1st time because it\'s 1st available, the difference between the 6800u is negligible and i got a great deal

overclocking a card, and overclocking the core GPU 100mz are two totally different animals

especially one that runs as hot as the 6800u

you think it has that double size heatsink for any old reason?

My Ti4600 has been overclocked and VOLT modded for 2 years, yet still it runs perfect just like the day I bought it.
I do have some serious cooling for that card.

Also The 6800 GT is $100 less than the 6800U and it outperforms the X800Pro. Now rumor has it that ATI might release a X800 XT-Non platinum edition, (lower GPU/Mem speed, with 16 working pipelines) in order to compete with the 6800 GT. If this does indeed occur I will be getting the X800 XT.
