sorry, but i dont think sven is stupid at all taking him off, rooney was going a bit off the rails, sure he was playing good, but he wanted someone bigger up front, hopefully scare the french with there physical presence, as in hexskey, even if he isnt the best player, he wants rooney fresh for the next game, adn not sent off. the players looked tired, thats why he did it, iyou cant thought him for that.

Listen a tired Rooney is better than that worthless lump Heskey. I just cannot understand his mentality with that tackle, when there were two defenders charging down the ball in front of him. He wasn\'t happy when claude maka slapped him, he hardly went off the rails though, he won us that penalty 5mins later, remember?! which btw micky s shouldve been sent off for. Heskey is a total waste of sh*t, he doesnt deserve to be in the squad, get smith in there or defoe, or even beattie! Its houliers fault. He is french, he managed gerrard and heskey until recently, and they f*cked it up for us, bloody scousers. And ashley cole shouldve been on the line for the free kick. And becks is a bit of a muppet

yea but rooney hardly has the best displine record, i think heskey is shit aswell, but he has some good points, i think sven was hoping that he muscualr presence may give us a bit of space. yea i think they should of took defoe instead of him, or beatie, as he has a muscual ( though not as much as heskey) , defoe will be great, and smith is good, but neitther of them have the muscle so to speak.

if anything when rooney was taken off, we shoud of had another defensive mdfielder put in, as we was getting over run at that point

it was the battle of the arrogant egos, the English commentators won the battle in the commentary box with thier inexhaustive mention of \'66 but when it came to the physical stuff the English were outclassed buy a fitter and stronger French side.

anyway Euro2004 couldnt get off to a better start with England bottom of their group, and Sweden top of the competition with the worlds best striker the top scorer so far.

i remember before the France game all the English were saying that a draw between Croatia and Switz would be good...yeah thats true indeed.
