A elite modder would spray the trays oh and the drive sleds

I did that as well, however I sprayed my trays black. There is a technical reason for that.

Its called being a DORK!!!

there is no technical reason to paint any part of your cpu accept for the fact that your a UBBER GEEK.

Like mm my job is computers and my cpu has all the "stock" colorings do you know why. Cause it does a job and thats all I need it to do.

Now dont get me wrong I have done some mods like sound dampering foam and some quite fans but nothing cosmetic..

It\'s called a hobby you ignorant yuppie. Many people have them, weather it be painting, building model airplanes, jerking off all day (Your Hobby) I guess you have nothing better to do with your lonesome spare time then attempt to ride on mm\'s back, just so you can artificially try to boost your non existent sense of self worth.

Stock coolers are not capable of performing the tasks or achieving the overclocks we desire. So do everyone a favor here and crawl back in the hole you came from.

You can add switches to cathodes to turn them off. PCI plates or just box switches. Hell you can make your own...

As for Cyrus, were talking about cd roms not cpus. I don\'t think i\'ve ever seen a modder PAINT a cpu.  That would be so stupid i can\'t imagine someone doing it. Although most likely people have.. lol

Nvidia, I was kidding about painting drive sleds or the trays.
That is a pretty stupid thing to do imo.
When paint heats up enough it will flake/chip/peel.  Having that inside your rom is a very dangerous thing to do to a cdrom. Although using vinyl dye which stains the plastic rather then coat it would be ok.
Your so called tech reason most likely being that bllack reduces jitters during writing from the black absorbing diffused reflections. I\'ve read that myth before..  Makes me wonder why all the companies aren’t doing it?  Personally i\'ve got cds that are over a year old without any problems that are still working perfectly fine. I wouldn\'t bother doing it.

Very true, that’s why when I spray painted my tray I used a paint that has a special polymer in it, that allows the paint to bond like glue while maintaining its ascetic look. After a year still to this day the paint is in immaculate condition.

I know, Plextor was the one pushing that, alot of people including myself believe that it was mostly a marketing thing. The improvement you\'ll get by painting the tray black will be very minimal if it even exists. Non the less the tray had to be painted, so I opted for black.

I respect that, however my tray looks pimp, the Lian-Li Flip down front bezel and then a black tray looks awesome.

See that is ugly with the beige,

gotta love accessories

Can someone say inferiority complex? Please I\'m far from a yuppie and my ignorance has nothing to do with you being an Ubber Geek. As for my masturbation skills well it helps me with my typing flex those forearms baby!!

My lonesome spare time happens two include a wife and two kids wich is much more than that date you had with the girl you picked up from the "14 year old girls with braces" forum.

Stock coolers blah blah blah.......... How bout you stop trying to over clock that Althalon and spend the cashis on a bigger proccesor.

You think because your a kid and learned computers the hard way that you somehow know more about them then those of us that paid our dues as most kids your age do. In fact I learned the hard way to I just got of my ass and learned to tune my mad skills and actually make some dough using them.

Stop your little moding hobbie go outside... There is no Matrix in the real world.

YOU OBVIOSULY CAN!

Yawn... first off I’m not a kid (mid 20\'s), you may be older than me but that has no bearing here. If you have to flaunt your age in order to establish some form of superior hierarchy, then that just goes to show how inferior your complex is.

Quote
How bout you stop trying to over clock that Althalon and spend the cashis on a bigger proccesor.

Fist of you mean my Pentium 4, I don\'t have an AMD chip in my computer. Second it\'s far more economically cheaper to over clock your processor than to spend the Extra $200 hundred dollars to get it at stock, So really your argument falls short.

Here we go again with this age thing, stop trying to talk down to me like I’m a kid, when your initial post gave the distinct and immediate impression that you were some 12 year boy who had one to many gummy bears. You have demonstrated the immature mind set that you so graciously love to exercise, and yet you respond back by calling me a kid, how hypocritical. You have no leverage here, not with a post that reaks 12 year old antics. So Please start acting like an Adult and be respectful, instead of coming in this thread insulting people for there passions/hobbies, only a low life with a weak and shattered self esteem would do a thing like that.

I do not mod any more (maybe a little here and there), but that is beside the point. Basically what you are saying here is that anyone with a hobby should drop it, and instead spend more time being asswipe like you, and put those extra hours into work. Who are you to dictate what people here should do on there spare time. Also fail to realize everyone is not like you, I love computers as a hobby, but would never get into it professionally, as it would bore the living shit out of me.

Well considering I said before that I believed it to be a marketing gimmick. Quite frankly until I see technical documented proof from various sources proving that indeed there is a noticeable difference, if any, then maybe I will give Plextor some credit. However I must admit when I first heard about this 3 years ago, I was intrigued and the black tray has always stuck in my mind.

I like you boy come sit on daddy\'s lap....

Your right age has nothing to do with it i was more refering to my 12+ years experience but Im sure that has no real bearing either not here in this place. Do you think thats air your breathing?

Im glad NVIDIA256 that your so passionate about your hobby Im sure the chicks totally dig your big HD and overclocked processor. Your right I\'m 12 years old or at least act like it of course that would be a good reason that a 32 year old posts on a playstation forum i guess???

p.s. - your still an ubber geek!

What did \'The Matrix\' have to do with any of this? I have never done any real modding per say, as for the most part I am a Mac person, but with my new PC being built (granted my trip to Texas sat me back a bit), I have been more and more intereted in modding and I know I will eventually do some slight moddin\'. Nothing real comestic (tons of bright lights,etC), but just some stuff to get the overall case a distinct "flow".

/ Does this mean you don\'t want to the beach front property?
:(
