A recent approval by the USPTO illustrates the basic outline of the logo which will brand the PS3 console. The end result is not surprising.
Way back in December of 1999, Sony’s Japan office submitted the upcoming PS3 logo for approval. Now, over four years later, the United States Patent and Trademark Office approved the design which was submitted. According to the “mark” generated by the TARR system
on this page, the PS3 logo will follow along the lines of its predecessors. The illustration shows the logo in blunt black and white form, so the colors of the logo which will be present in the final design is still under wraps.
Sorry to everyone who thought the logo would be new and vibrant, but it appears as though this design will see the PlayStation console through its third life. Perhaps Sony might want to try something new for the PS4? But, let’s not get started on that just yet.
