Different type of game..

I\'d feel cheated if I bought Final Fantasy XII and beat it in 8 hours. Hell, Final Fantasy X has 100+ hours in the game and it\'s no where near the most epic game in the series.

I pre-ordered it. And.. that might not be a good thing after all.

I\'ll go in with modest hopes, though.. and see what happens.

Okay, this is an adventure game so let\'s play with that genre.  I\'d say it might be directly comparable to maybe the Zelda series?  You can finish ANY of those games in under 10 hours but easily spend an extra 10 hrs just by exploring and doing the extras.

As far as RPGs go you get out what you put in, some people claim they can beat X around 20 hours and come away somewhat disappointed.  I like to spend time with my games and usually beat an RPG around the 40-50 hrs mark,  Grandia II and FFX-2 only took 30 hrs and I spent ALOT of time messing around in those games.  They cost the same as my 40-50 hour rpgs but I didn\'t hold it against them.;)

I don\'t know, I haven\'t really read up on fable...just flying by the seat of my pants here trying to get a discussion. (This place is so dead)

I beat Windwaker missing one heart container and one of those statues, right at 10 hrs 6 mins. I just checked it:p
It was and is an amazing game.

I rarely play games through more than once, Skies of Arcadia(DC & GC versions) being the exception...both plays took between 47-55 hrs.

Fable looks like an adventure/rpg, that\'s kind of how I view Zelda so that\'s where I draw the comparison.

Fable is an imaginative game that\'s got enough remarkable, unique moments in it to make it shine. That many of these moments happen to be good for a laugh is all the better. It\'s true that the game\'s high points are not always frequent--its ambitions are evident but not always fulfilled, and the pervasively playful spirit of the game sometimes is mired by convention. These trespasses are more than excusable, though. Regardless of how much time you ultimately spend playing Fable, you\'re not likely to forget the experience for a long while.

Feel that you let your panties get too bunched up?  If you cared that much about it then I advise you to take the game nice and slow, exploring every last inch of it.

But I\'m guessing you don\'t have intentions of playing it, perhaps giving a kiosk 10 minutes of your precious time before writing it off as a failure.

your loss:p

I suppose that\'s entirely subjective so I\'ll just let it go...although I wouldn\'t mind knowing what it is you find non-disappointing?  All I ever see you do is whine.

presumptions?

sales data will show the lack of interest in this flop.

but hey, the gaming companies love sheep like you.  they just shovel out shit and you\'re glad to pay for it cause it\'s the newest thing

Well, it\'s not exactly the newest thing. Some parts of this game were finalized 4 years ago. *cough*

Wind Waker was a fantastic game, but it was short and shorter than it was supposed to be.

My only response to that, considering lack of actual sales data, is wait and see.  I\'d sure love to have access to all this insider info you have though...but if it comes at the price of being an ass then you can keep it to yourself.

I don\'t think I\'ve mentioned that I\'ll buy Fable because I don\'t have intentions to, not before I give it a rent anyway.  And I\'m giving it a rent because the reviews have been pretty solid, surely nothing in the way of shit, as you so eloquently put it.  But hey, if that makes me a sheep...baaaa.
