Instead of making assumptions without even playing the game, thanks to some reviews that describe how it should have been if it was a perfect 10/10, I suggest trying it.

That\'s like Fable. What\'s there shows the potential of greatness, but it\'s not fully realized.

Reviews I\'ve read point out how you can\'t fully explore the world and make obvious how the role playing aspects are superficial. You can blow right through the game or you can putz around pissing off little children and wooing ladies, but in the end it doesn\'t matter.

I also find the graphics a bit lacking and think the character changes are pretty silly. A bit more evolution in character would have been nice. Tattoos and horns don\'t do much for me.

Remember, I\'m juding Fable by what is there. That\'s why I\'m not impressed. What should or could be there would have made it better.

And no I haven\'t played it. Can\'t afford to, heh. But I\'ve already said that fun doesn\'t mean good. I\'m still finishing up Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat by EA and despite questionable controls and repetitive gameplay and environments, I\'m enjoying it most all the time.

Now you\'ve moved your argument to why you don\'t favor the game...without even playing it but I\'ll leave that alone.

I could care less what you personally think about the game, that was never the point.  I\'ve been trying to grasp on to the idea that Fable SHOULD have turned out in such a way given its\' development time?  I don\'t think you can determine that, you might expect something but that\'s hardly concrete, and for the last 10 pages nobody has convinced me otherwise.

If nobody knew this game was in development and appeared in the shops a month ago when it was least expected nobody would have made such a big fuss.I dont know whats the point of argueing when its a good game(who cares if its not perfect. They are rare anyways) and gamers want good games?

Exactly, and using the whole development time thing in reverse would be like saying that a bad game is better if it had a short development time...or that a good game is better because of a short development period...it just doesn\'t qualify.

The only point I\'ve come to agree with in this thread is that Peter M. shouldn\'t have opened his mouth so much.

i can see the point of a few tho...even tho it\'s nothing to get your panties twisted...not to change the subject but i\'am highly lookin\' forward to gta san andreas...now that is a game where they are promisiing massive amounts of s**t to do and all kinds of features being implemented...now if any of those ideas don\'t make it,...right now..i\'d have to say yea, i\'d be a little pissed..only because all of the features that has been stated are incredible..

would it still be good game if some features are left out? of course,..but i would be a little irritated because of the features that i was REALLY  lookin\' forward to weren\'t in there...now i haven\'t played the game,... but i don\'t need to to see the argument that mm & eiksirf are making..if in fact that this is the argument they are making...

mm is saying that the game is a failure because of the development time and that those features didn\'t make it in.  Eik is going all over the place and I\'m not quite sure where he stands on either issue, he\'s just trying to be a smartass.  Nevermind neither of them has played it.

How can you judge it if you haven\'t played what is there?  How do you go about qualifying what was left out?

Its obvious you read only what you want to read.
"Fable not offering what they promised"(which ofcourse has to do with hype) is different than "an excessively restriced game with no gameplay".Fable features freedom.Just not the freedom promised. And it has nice gameplay. Please go away

Let\'s try this...

If I study for a test for one minute, I\'ll fail.
If I study for five years I\'ll get a hundred.

If I work out for one day, I won\'t show any results.
If I work out for five years, I\'ll be in great shape.

If I make Fable in one year, it\'ll be rushed and unfinished.
If I make Fable for five years........

You could appropriately expect more than you\'ve been given.

That\'s why development time even came up. It\'s just disappointing that with all the time its taken, they don\'t have more to show.

How you can\'t grasp that concept is beyond me, but if you can\'t, it\'s still ok. The bottomline is Fable is a fun game with its flaws.

I\'ll hang on to my fifty bucks for a better title, or spend it on 2 or 3 fun games with flaws.

It\'s still no big deal, but we can\'t seem to move on can we?

wow to some extent you make sense.  but you guys obviously missed the point.  I will go out on the limb and try to make some sense of this.

I never said Fable was the best game, I don\'t even recall anyone saying it.  No one here is trying to paint the picture that Fable is the best RPG of its time, cause that would be a flat out lie.  However, it still warrants playing, it\'s not like its a bad game.

At first this was amusing, but I\'m kinda disapointed by the arguments...

It didn\'t live up to the hype, I conceded that, most people here conceded it.  That\'s not the point, to devalue this game to a turd is absurd.  The game is disapointing, no doubt.  That aside, it\'s still a game that\'s enjoyable for what it DOES give you.

It\'s a quality game, period.

Hurricane hit it on the head.:)  But disappointing in what regard?  That you assumed there would be more?

Eiksirf, none of the points you made are necessarily true.  The rest of your post can be answered by reading back through mine, maybe a second time through you\'ll get it.

mm, you still don\'t have a clue what you\'re argueing do you?

I\'m going to ask this one more time, how do you qualify time spent on Fable versus what it is?  No generalizations, this is Fable versus the time spent developing it.

Disapointed about the removed features and lack of freedom.  I reiterate though, it is still a quality game.  It still gives you that sense of enjoyment when you play it, but you know in the back of your head it could have been better.  That\'s Fable in a nutshell.
